lucky you... they barely started falling off the trees here about a month ago... but on the bright side, i have warmer weather.. lol

i think the whole raking thing is a myth
i see apartment buildings near where i live that never get raked, and the grass is always fine in the spring

if i didnt rake i'd have a foot and half stack of leaves across my entire yard by the time they all fell

yeah, same here. if you onyl get a few, it sno big deal, but i would have a foot of leaves which would turn to soil over th ewinter which means my lawn is burried.

i just raked those up this morning and the yard is already getting covered again

My trees wont let go of the leaves...they taunt me from above. I want to be able to rake before the snow falls.

glad to see you got off the couch to do something other than forza

i'm always doing something around the house... but i may take a few hours out of my day to play some Forza.. or if the woman goes out with friends i'll stay home and play or else she'll bitch if shes home and i play.. lol

yeah the leaves are more or less done here as well. I live in a condo so I don't have to deal with mine, but I always take care of my moms.

She's got a shit ton of them. Although the city she lives in comes by with a huge vaccuum truck in the fall, so I just have to get them out to the street. Best method I've found is to blow them into a huge ass pile on a tarp and drag them from the back yard to the front. Backpack blower helps tons.

It's an afternoon's work for sure, but if it's a nice day it's a good excuse to go outside and knock back a few cold beers while I'm at it, plus the kiddies like to jump in them and get filthy. I always end up with a pile the approximate size of mom's CRV.

Don't talk to me about leaves. The past two years I have had on average 34 50 gallon bags from my three huge maple trees and the two in my neighbor's yard. We have a predominant wind that blow across his property and drops the leaves in mine.

This year I finally had enough of spending a couple of hours a day for multiple weekends in a row raking/blowing/sucking them up so I tried a different plan that worked like a charm. I started mowing my lawn with my multcher every couple of days once the leaves started to fall. each pass over the lawn I changed direction by 90 degrees. On the third pass (if it was needed) I would put the bag on the mower and collect whatever leaves I manged to suck up.

For the first couple of mowings I didn't need to collect them as there were not that many leaves to mulch. The third and fourth time where a bulk of the leaves had fallen down I bagged the third pass as to not mat down my grass and kill it. This year I spent a total of 4 1/2 hours mowing versus 12 hours raking last year. I had a total of 4 50 gallon bags vs. the 37 I had the year before. The best part was watching my neighbors face get unhappy when my lawn was cleared in less than an hour when he had been outside all day.

The best tip I have is to mow often make 2-3 passes each time, bag when needed and don't try this with wet leaves.

yea... i'll get my mower into a wheelie and mulch and bag them that way.. lol

:werd: on the wet leaves.. did that last year, doesnt work.. lol

I more saying instead of raking them mulch. Seeing as you already have them piled I would use my leave blower/shredder and make short work of those piles. Do you have curbside pick up? I do but they have to be bagged. My parents do as well but they have to be in pile on the curb.

You actually experience a fall in California? I have no trees, but the wind pushes all my neighbors leaves into my yard which I need to rake up and put out on the curb.

nope.. no curbside pick up other than the green trash can (yard waste) .. but 1/2 one of those piles will fill that up.. tried that last year.. i eventually bought a bunch of 50 gallon bags and filled those up and tossed them in the trash through out the year.. lol

You have a blower/mulcher they work pretty well for reducing the volume of the leaves. Especially if they are dry.

yeah, theres no leaves here! there arent even many hardwoods here even if it did get cold enough.

i dont envy you guys up north, i used to live in north georgia and cleaning the yard and gutters in the fall was a bitch.

i dont have leaves i have pine straw which is a pain to try and rake it just keeps going between the teeth so you have to keep raking and raking and raking and raking the same spot to make any progress.

why dont you burn your leaves
