Hello,

I have been on and off of this forum over the years. I went extreme on my crx and now I can't get it to run. I just spent some time trying to find someone with similar problems but found nothing.

I bought a complete swap from hmotorsonline. I bought the JDM b16A1. like a noob I sold my stock harness with my engine. At the time I had hopes of going stand alone. I was going to use magasquirt. I started building my engine and interior harness but got interrupted. In the mean time since I was so confident I would get it done and it would work I had cut my interior harness all up.
I had to walk away from the whole thing for months. When I can back I had decided I just wanted it to run so I bought a 90 CRX SI engine harness for the engine. I also luckily found the only new stock interior harness left in the country for a 91 crx hf. I found it in maryland and after paying an arm and a leg I had it at my door. After spending a few hours I had the new harnesses installed. I used the JDM computer it came with. I am not sure if it is the PR3 or PW0. I also have made the from of my car partially tube chassis. I cut of most ground points and strut towers and all. I had to fabricate engine mounts and all kinds of fun stuff. So my battery is now located in the back.

I hooked everything up and now I have no spark or injector pulse. Upon further investigation I have power everywhere when the key is on. I have power where there are supposed to be grounds and grounds where there is supposed to be power. I consider myself fairly competent with wiring and diagnostics but this has me stumped.

My first thought was poor ground. I know hondas are picky and I cut most of mine off plus I have the battery further away than normal. I then used a 10 wire ground set and grounded everything imaginable. It does have a good enough ground to crank strong before and after ground straps. On my distributor plug for example I think I have a power on every wire going to dizzy. I got mad and walked away after thousands spent on the whole project and hours upon countless hours. It has to be something simple. Another strange thing is it is not blowing any fuses. I have tried about everything I can think of. I haven't worked on it for about a year so I am sure I have tried things I may have even forgotten.

Please Please let me know if anyone has any ideas.

Here are some pictures of what I have done

As you can tell I would really love to see this work pay off. I had to walk away for a while but not it is time to get back on it. I have plans for boost, have turbo kit and all. It is going to be a track car. I had it on the chassis scales with me it is less than 2k lbs.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Sorry for the book.

your problem is that you are trying to use the Si engine harness with the HF chassis harness - the harnesses are not compatible or interchangeable - the Si engine harness has the igniter wire in the passenger side connector and the HF chassis harness has the igniter wire in the driver's side connector - in addition, all of the wires (except for one) in the passenger side connector are in different locations - in order to use the Si engine harness, you need to follow the attached instructions:

i also have write-up that i did for using the HFengine harness with the Si chassis harness, if anyone needs it

one other thing to mention when installing the B16A in the HF - you need to cut the green/black wire (back-up lights signal) at ECU pin B9 on the HF chassis harness - otherwise, the PR3/PW0 will throw a check engine light

another thing is your computer itself could be a bad one do to the fact your injectors aren't pulseing that itself is a ecu problem because the injectors ground at the ecu and makes the pulse and if have no pulse then i would at your wiring to the ecu check the pin in the connector to the ecu in case you might have messed up but jlicr is right about the hf and si thing i'm just saying you might also want to check for any ecu problem i had the same problem with my '88 crx when i was converting it to multiport the ecu some people told to use over here couldn't handle it

WOW thank you guys so much. That all makes sense now. Ya the differences could cause some major issues. I should have asked a year ago or so and I would have gotten to take it on the track a few times by now.

I hopefully will get a chance to work on it very soon and will let you guys know if I get some spark and injector pulse.
I appreciate the fast answers and relief to my pain and agony. I will keep you posted on how things come along. I hope its worth the hours and money I have in it.

THANKS AGAIN!!!

if yoy look at the pinouts for the engine harness versus the chassis harness, you can see why you don't have any injector pulse - none of the wires for the injectors (except for one) and the resistor box power are in the right locations - re-pin the connector and you should be o.k. as far as the injectors and spark are concerned - make sure that you have the ground wires that come out of the engine harness connected at the thermostat housing - these are the grounds for the ECU, Main Relay and most of the sensors - ground is located at upper right in picture

Thank you so much jlicrx, I got it to fire tonight finally. First time I had a chance to work on it for a long time. This write up was great and I got it worked out, now I just need to button up a few things including getting my fuel pump wired up for my fuel cell and I should be on the road. Thanks again guys for the fast and accurate answers.

i need some similar information i am swapping hf motor into 91 hatchback si ive done the passenger side wirning already what else would i have to do to make it run correctly
