I was making a little research just to find out what is the maximum safe size to bore the stock sleeves on forced induction . I was pushing 300whp with stock sleeves and I had a spun bearing and the cylinders looks like I need to go for the next size , but I wanted to know if 81.25 its fine (0,010, next size) if I want to push 350whp no more than that cause as far as I know stock sleeves are for no more than 400whp. Im just trying to find limits so I don't have to worry too much. I have a b16a block , Im planning to get b18 so I can make a ls/vtec sleeved but that will happen not too soon , so I need to fix my ride so I can keep going . can't live off the track lol. thanks in advance !

it will hold... but it won't be IF it will be WHEN will it blow up. it might be a week, it might be 10 years from now... the more you take off, the weaker it gets.

on stock sleeves
300 is safe
350 is pushing it
take some metal away and
275 is safe
300 is pushing it.

if you want 350+, get it re-sleeved.

Have you upgraded your oiling system? I'd hate to see you spin another one after the time and money spent boring it.

well yes , bought a new ITR oil pump !

All Vtec oil pumps are the same, I hope you didnt spend more for the ITR than you would a GSR oil pump.

Also get the crank oiling holes chamfered and micro polished , a lil extra insurance goes a long way.

no I didn't , I heard that all 3rd generation of b series has the same oil pump , but there is a difference between 1st and 2nd , regardless ... I need it a new one !

The numbers B posted are conservative numbers.

If you have a complete tool tuning your vehicle, then yes, anything aroud 300whp is going to be pushing your luck.

I have seen people run on 350+whp for years though - stock B-Series sleeves.

I personally am at 320whp on stock B18 sleeves at the moment, I plan on pushing that a lot further, but thats just because I have methanol and a set of Darton MID's sitting in my closet :D

So , what do you people think about buying darton sleeves 84mm instead of 81mm ? Im planning 500whp at some point !

You can make 500whp on any bore really. It's all a matter of your other parts and the tuning.

If you're going to resleeve, you might as well go for the 84mm bore. The B block can handle that bore with a good sleeve without any problems- and you have that much more potential to make more power since you just cranked up the displacement another 11%.
