I know what you mean, I used to be a cook for many years. I hated those rude assholes...my wife is a server while she goes to school and has to deal with those shits all the time. Keep your head and you'll find something better eventually.

i work at 2 places where people do that all the time and it pisses me off every time... god they're lucky i need money really bad lol

i dont have a choice till february then im quitting at least one of those jobs and going to work on a farm for more money then im makin now

i hear farming was really hard work, hope your prepared for it....id on't believe they are 9-5 i think its more like 4am to like 8pm

What do you expect to do on this farm? Who is the OWNER of this farm?

I remember working for my dad back in the 70-80's on our FARM, Getting up at 05:30 cutting, rolling, stacking sod on the trucks, THEN having breakfast all to come back and have my dad sell off 50-100yds to someone who just pulled up.. Then having to call the customers that you PROMISED to be there and ask for more time (to go and cut more). Because if you didn't work, you didn't eat.

Or not having a lunch because you sent your workers off to eat and you were the only one there when people 'show up' and want _______.

Or having your gloves freeze to the loader control because you HAVE TO plow through 4+' of snow-drifts JUST TO GET TO THE BARN, then TRY and start the equipment in -60 below weather because if You didn't, the "workers" sure the heck won't and if you didn't work and make some money that day, you DIDN'T eat..
Or having to build a fire (wait till it got to red-coals) to pull under the oil pan of the tractor just to heat up the oil and have a pair of hand held propane torches heating the injector pump and lines to un-gell the lines to see if MAYBE it's gonna start. then run the coals around the hydraulic res to warm the oil or else it could blow a line and waste your oil and have to pay for another line to be CUSTOM made.
Or having to shovel out the piles of wood and start busting them apart (because they froze together) with a 12-16lb sledge to get them to fit on the splitter rail/ram. Because if you didn't make money that day, you couldn't pay bills..

Or learning to drive by the age of 6 with 4x4 blocks attached to the peddles of the tractors so we could reach them and shift/control the equipment. Because it was cheaper to have us do the mowing rather than have a hired hand be just sitting all day.. Because if you didn't do YOUR SHARE, your siblings would 'take care of you' without mom/dad knowing (who made you limp or gave you a bruise(s)) And you wouldn't dare tell!

PRAISE GOD I LEFT FOR COLLEGE 7HRS AWAY! but then if I wanted any 'extra' money while 'on-break' (you know, pay for gas/food for your date, and to borrow the vehicle, whatever that was..) I'd have to get my then soft hands roughed up again. Or bring your date to make a 'delivery'. Because maybe, just maybe your dad would let you have a few bucks out of the PROFIT YOU JUST MADE.

I think your choice of "working" on a farm for the winter months will do you a world of good (that is if you don't complain there too)

I can't understand when people where I work complain about people (customers) WILLING TO GIVE STUPID AMOUNTS OF MONEY for_______..! And it's THEIR JOB to do so. Only to go back to mommas house (who most likely does all the work there) bitch and complain and play games on the tv, X-box, Facebook or some other wast of time, then have the misguided understanding to complain about not having money to do ______.

Sorry, just venting..

i remember working on a tobacco farm.......its still the hardest job ive had....roofing doesnt compare and working at nissan is like a desk job compared to farm work

I've been working in the food biz for 10 years now.

full service restaurants suck in the last 15 minutes of operation. It's one thing to have a nice steady flow of customers up til closing then have them linger around for an hour or two, it's another thing to have a dead last hour, have the place clean and ready to walk out when a table of 2 comes in only to order 10 bucks worth of food and chat for 2 hours.

but..... its all apart of the job. Thank god I rarely ever close.

What REALLY pisses me off is when you're working til 4pm and the next server shows up 10 minutes late for zero legit reason, sucks when you get a last minute table then have to stick around because the next server just doesn't care.

"BUBBA's" are more like the lazy asses that get so bored, they start 'crackin' the livestock..

You know, "why do sheep farmers wear knee-high boots?? To keep the sheep in place"

Yeah waiting two hours for some stuffy couple to get done with dinner is much easier than working on any far for any reason. Unless you are simply running parts.... Money is always going to be a deciding factor but for a lot of folks trading away their free time and social life isn't always the best trade.

I have worked on onion sorting lines where white was deffinatly the minority, driven combine slow as shit Pea combines for that matter. And it is all hard work. When I was driving combine I worked nights 6pm to 8am. I never had enough sleep, my social life didst exist. I would go over to my girlfriends place and sleep for a few hours after work then drive home. Just somethin to keep in mind. money isnt everything.

Sorry bro.

I was hungry.

I've cooked and served in the same restaurant. The last minute fuckers definitely pissed me off more as a cook. The entire line would have to be cleaned again, when you're a waiter it's one table. But the restaurant industry sucks right now. I know. I'm broke and have bills coming due.

im not waiting tables, im washing dishes and helping with the cooking.

and the farm im planning on working i work on every now and then but they dont need me much till i get my license and i actually like working on the farm. yes it is very hard work at times but i dont mind hard work as long as i dont have to put up with people...

I washed dishes twice. Once was my first job, had a medical issue, had to leave. But I hated every minute of it. Few years later I was out on money, so I picked up a second job, working at a failing hotel/resturaunt. Lasted for 1 month. Everyone in management treats you like shit. I mean, I know that's their job, but come on. We had signs hung up all over the place saying if you do something (anything) wrong, you'll be fired on the spot no questions asked. Plus I was the only person in the kitchen who didn't have a schedule, I worked on a phone calls notice. I will never do that again unless I'm at rock bottom.

I will actually go out of my way to NOT go into a restaurant if it's within like a 1/2 hr of closing.

Just seems like a shitty thing to do.
