i was on a friends boat this weekend and it haad a dual charged diesel engine...is this possible in a gas engine or in a car? i think new vw have this. just curious

Dual charged could mean a few different things.
1) Twin turbo
2) Turbo and nitrous
3) Turbo and supercharger
4) Supercharger and nitrous

You need more information on what kind of "dual charging" you're talking about.

Yes, it can, and has been done. The cost and complexity of the system more often than not outweigh the benefits over a well designed single charged system.

Yes. :)

It's actually simple, really. You have your regular SC setup, and the turbo simply blows into the intake of the SC setup.

do it, i dare ya!

no really id like to see that, i wonder how it would drive, and how it would sound hhehehe

If you have access to SCC's old issue, they did one on a MR2 and got a dyno up to about 5500rpm. The graph had a ridiculously nice curve(instead of the lag and then very aggressive torque jump, it was smooth/linear).
