yep....mmhhm.......yep...
ok, so i ahave not driven my car in a few weeks. so say what the hell i will take it to work. for those who dont know i have a 92 prelude with jdm h22a, fully built lower end and stock rebuilt head. less than 25k miles on it. i am pushing about 425hp. so i let it warm up and stop about 3 miles from my house to get some gas. i leave it running and run in the store and pay for the gas. well on my way out to my car i see oil pouring from under my car. so i run over a turn the car off. pop the hood and from what i can see its coming from either my head or under the plastic cover for my crank pully side of the engine. no cel no oil lite on car sounds fine no knocks or anything like that. but oil just pours out when i have it running. doesnt seem to be loosing compression or anything. any have any ideas what it could be or what to check for. i have not had a chance to have a ggod look yet as i was on my way to work. i took it back to my house and parked it till i get off work.

thanks in advance guys.

425HP from an NA build? huh?

maybe you have too much oil pressure? pull that front cover off and see if one of your front seals have moved, or your oil pump may have started to fail.

not n/a i am turbo'd. pushing about 18psi. yeah this is what i was tninking. but the oil pump was new. and like i said whole engine was rebuilt with new parts. i was not even hitting any boost. i never do till it warms up all the way. just drove it really easy to the gas station and was putting gas in.

well really the only thing you can do is clean it up, and start the car and try and see if you can spot where its coming from.

I've seen it where the crank seal on the timing cover side totally goes out and it dumps oil everywhere.

18psi + poor crankcase ventilation could push seals out.

the thing is i wasnt hitting boost. i was busy all weekend and didnt get a chance to look at it. maybe today when i get off work!~

yeah its either that or the oil pump. from what i can see. i have not thrown a cel or anything so i dont think anything is messed up. i have blox cam seals in you would think they would hold up!

no the blox cam seal goes in the dizzy side of the motor..on the other end where the cam gear goes is another cam seal..its like a big o-ring with some kind of spring in it..the cam goes inside of it,which inturn goes inside of the camcap,if there was too much pressure it probably pushed the oring out of place..its a real easy fix

will i have to take off my head? or just the valve cover?

Pull the valve cover and the timing cover and take a look around. I have seen many cars push the front crank or cam seal out of place. I have also seen a few f series engine spit the balance shaft seal out and puke oil everywhere. I don't know off hand if the h22a has a set of balance shafts but that would be another good place to look.

+1, might have blown a seal, doesnt mean you had to be @ WOT. but oil psi + hi crankcase psr, low ventilation. But I would agree, clean up the mess/jack the car up/run the engine/ lay under an watch.

it spews so bad i dont think i would want to be under the car.........

Going out on a limb.. Blown oil sending unit? Split oil filter? I guess it would smoke if so..

I didn't see if it's on one side or the other? front or back? (as it sits in the bay)

Hey, did you re-install the oil restricter in the top of the block?
You might be flooding the VC..?

Just my .02
