i have no idea which one of these would work better so i am gonig to ask you guys..i have a 1996 honda prelude S with a f22a1 in it and i want to go faster, do you think that i should go and buy a h22a and put it in..or take the f22 and built it up, as in turbo it and such.

thank you for your help/opinions

i dont want to spend all that much, i have a f22 in my car as of right now, and i wanted to know if i should keep it in and turbo it and modify it or just put a h22 in and save my money then turbo it down the road

Tell us exactly how much you want to spend please. That will determine the answer...

i have about 2000 right now to spend, i just want to know which one would be best

You can probably do either for that budget. If you want the most bang for your buck, then go for boost. An H22 will put you at around 160-170 wheel horses. 200+ horse at the wheels is easily attainable on a boosted F22...

I agree

& on a side note... Turbos are rad

well i've been reading about puttin a h23 head on the f22 block and people say that it is a lot cheaper then a h22 swap and is still powerful, if i bought a f22 block and rebuilt and and then put a rebuilt h23 head on it would it be able to hold up to turbo?

i dont see the point of a H23 head, an H23 Head is a non Vtec head (except for the european accord TypeR blue top) Do you mean an H22 head on a F22 block?

Yeah, you'd basically be building an H23, so the motor by itself would probably put out 150ish-160ish horsepower. It would hold up fine to a turbo, but I don't know if there's really a huge advantage over just sticking with the F22 head. Honestly the F22 heads flow pretty well...

no, i mean a h23 head..im not very fond of vtec.

Why is that?

because i dont really feel like having to get a new ecu/run new wires. vtec really isn't all that great to begin with anyways in my opinion

if you dont care for Vtec thats cool, but personally i would prefer a build with it. It is the equivlant of having an Economy cam and a Racing cam in the same car, so you have the benefit of good MPG when you want it and good Performance on the high end, and the wiring isnt complicated. But hey its your choice

Ah, I see. Well, if that's the case then I'd probably just stick with the F22 head. Like I said, it flows pretty well. I don't think you'd really gain much by adding the H23 head to the mix. Be forewarned though, when you go turbo you'll need to mess with the ECU and get some tuning done, and possibly even get a different ECU...
