Under employed
So, I just traded my gf's 97 Integra, it has a auto transmission thats messing up, and needs a decent amount of work. I traded for a 86 Toyota Corolla. For those that do not understand, the 86 corolla is RWD (Rear Wheel Drive.) The AE86 needs alittle bit of work as well, its auto as well. I'll post pics later. I'm excited to start working on the toyo. I'm just really amazed how cheap parts are for this car, and the fact is has an integral rear end and not an independent rear end like a 240sx has.

nice! half my friends are vw guys, the other half all own hatchi roku's. they are deffinitely fun cars. you should put an f20c into it. thats what alot of people are doing these days because its such a perfect swap for that car.

F20c? as in the S2k engine right? btw this thing is a coupe not a hatch. Right now, I'm just going to run with the engine its got.

1. Because its still good.
2. Because I'm broke and dont have money for a swap
3. I'm sick of walking.

But really this car is great is a perfect body to swap anything I want. like if I want to put a chevy 350 in it just for the hell of it. it has the space for it.

hatchi roku refers to the chassis code. hatchi roku is how you say 86 in japanese. the 4age is a good engine but when you do decide to upgrade, you should look into the f20. people are starting to make swap kits for it.

heres my buddy that lives near sacramento's corolla. this car is a monster!

yeah thats alot more than I'm willing to take with this. Seriously the biggest swap I want to do to this car is make it 5 speed. MAYBE use a AE111 or AE101 engine. I've already started researching, and catching on slightly.

I'm starting to see why these things are alittle bit addicting. I've started looking up popular swaps and differences etc. So, I MIGHT be looking into the twin cam 16v swap, and Mikuni-Solex Side-Draft setup. not to get too crazy in a swap or too pricey too fast.

my buddy used to have an 85 GTS convertible .. we used to roll hard in that thing.. then he moved to Long Beach and it disappeared within the first 6 months

looked like this one but it was candy apple green and the inside of teh spokes on the wheels was green too... lol.. we called it The Green Machine ..

post pics of the teg and corolla. i don't think that was a good trade. but i want to see them before i have a good idea of the condition.

ive always wanted an ae86...(i found a copy of initial d at half priced books and the love has been revitalized again).

The thought of an F20C in a hachi makes me giddy....and then i feel dirty. You can have a lot of fun with a 4A-GE motor, and you can get a new (to you) one for under 1000 bucks.

All i have to say is you better keep a turbo away from that car lest the car gods strike you down.

I've noticed almost no one turbo's the AE86's. The teg was pretty much beat the crap, with that car it was almost a never ending money pit that was never improving. If you had to put up with the heads aches and the "how long will this last" moments, you would probably of made a trade as well.

I'm having a hard time loading pics right now.

heres a couple links.

thats what typical corollas look like these days. that thing is worth about $1200 at most. i hope that integra was really beat to shit, because it was probably a bad trade.

too bad $1300 for a shell is overpriced. a non-running car that has been beat to shit should be $500.

i found a gts coupe with no title or rear end for 300 dollars. but I dont have the resources to drive 5 to 6 hours to pick up a donar. but yeah, that integra was damn near impossible for me to sell here. I had it posted on craigslist for 800 obo. no one wanted it. made the trade for corolla, told a couple of people I had a AE86 and I've already had decent offers tossed at me. These things are almost like the 240sx. Kids are lineing up to buy them so they can "drift".

sell it for anything over $1800. that thing is a pile.

you can pick up an old eg hatch if you keep an eye out for them. they come up quite a bit. usually high mileage, but a much MUCH better car.
