Im making this post for every one out there trying to be the fastest honda on the block, You wont do it and you cant. I learned this lesson after looking back at what i put into my Ek over the years... I bought the car with 56k miles in 00, its now 12 years old and you cant find one in a junk yard to save your life any more. Mini me swaps are out, you cant find a teg any where much less a B18 for less than 600 that runs good. So the honda game is pretty much dead in many ways, I read that only 37% of hatchs still exist from 92-95. It still leaves alot left if you look at how many that is but they are over priced and over rated. Lets face it they are hard to get rid of i dont think i can ever sell my EK, But the car is so old now and to make it keep up with the new stuff will make you broke. over all i have 15k into my honda, that is a fair trade for 320 to the rubber but the car is now something its not and its only worth about 5-7k to someone who is looking for that, Another thing that has faded away with time. Im not saying that honda is shit no way! Im saying ill never do another swap, another turbo, another rear trailing arm swap. Ill just save my pennys Buy a EP3 and be done with it. That is my lession, Dont make your car something its not. Just get a good sound system turn it up and enjoy the damn the car for what it was ment to be you will enjoy it more in the long run!

yeah dude, i think the honda scene is doing just fine, at least around where i live. its less popular than it was 10 years ago, but thats a good thing. most people that are still in it are actually into real performance these days. many guys i know have fast hondas as their second car, not a dd... and they track them.

i have about $9k total in my integra build, including buying the car, suspension, interior, built motor, supercharger, tuning, everything... i dont regret it because its fun as hell. i didnt build it to make a profit, it built it for fun. sure its probly only worth $6k to resale, but i dont care because im not planning on selling. ill be 30 soon and i dont think im ever going to outgrow this hobby.

being that i go to alot of car shows, i have noticed less and less Hondas at shows. years ago Hondas used to pretty much dominate the car show scene. now i see 2 maybe 3 at a show.

I agree with EG, alot of guys complain that the honda game is dead because they put X amount of money into their car and they can only sell it for Z amount of bucks. Now I've owned hondas from Accords to Integras, mostly as DD, I just recently started getting enoough cash for the whole performance bit of the game and I never understood dudes who complained.

I always said "when I build my honda engine and swap it into a shell, I'm looking to have a sexy car with great performance" I mean if you take your time to build a car like that i feel it's too personal to be a business, it should be a fun hobby!

if you have 320 to the wheels and you dont think it cant keep up with the new cars,,umm your doing it wrong. and i have friends that have about 8-10 k in there b series cars with 600-700whp. i guess what im getting at is any honda that can hit mid 13s is gona take alot of the races.

i think you went about putting your money into the car the wrong way..
everyone already knows you cant even get half back of what you put in..but i dont do it for a profit..i do it for a hobby/fun.

Well as for myself I'm incredibly new to this "honda Game" you folk keep mentioning. I'm going to try my best not to be the next "FnF" ass hat on the block. I honestly would be incredibly happy w/320-350 to the rubber on my little ef. But I'm focusing more on comfortablility, fun-to-drive, and sound.

I'm primarily an american muscle guy, this is my first foray into the FWD performance "scene" I've built a few fast camaros, mustangs, trucks etc. I'd be happy if my ef just ended up quick but handled like a mofo. Not too stiff, but not all 4x4 looking either. I doubt I'll be sticking high single/double digit dollar signs in this car, but who knows. I just wanna have fun while I do it.

^ somebody is on their honda period jeez

Im sayin 15k as in every thing over 10 years with my ek, honestly if i built the car over again i would spend around 6 maybe. Thats a good trade off for any thing over 250 to wheels in my eyes. My hole point of the post is just bolt on shit and dont try to make a superhonda, just buy a s2k and enjoy it. Honda prides it self on thier N/a horse power if you want a fast ef/eg/ek just buy a gsr motor and be done with it. As far as newer cars out look at the ep3 or a rsx you can drive one away for less than 8k. With minor bolt on's you can put down 200whp and spend next to nothing.

ALL cars are horrible investments. It does not matter if it's a civic or a corvette, you are not going to come close to recouping your dollar investment for modifications. That's why it's a hobby. Really though, I made out pretty well when I sold off my last build. I removed all the high dollar items and threw the stock stuff on. I made 3k selling off parts, and another 4k selling the car. If I had sold the car as-is, I would have maybe gotten 5k for everything.

hey 2k posts, about time

Welcome to the world of modifying ANY car..

Our old Hondas are still doing great as far handling(for a FWD car) and being quick goes.

If you're trying to build a fast drag car, well, it's wrong-wheel drive :p
