I just got a 94 Accord.

After driving the car for a bit.... I turn it off then a sec later try to crank it back up.... it acts like it wants to crank up but doesn't. I tried pumping the gas..... I tried just cranking it without touching the gas pedal.... it doesn't crank.....

After about 5-10 minutes it'll crank right up.... no problems.

Just today I was driving and it just shuts off in the middle of the road.... sat at the light.... waited for bout 5 min then it cranked back up.....

HELP!?!?!

What's could be the problem??

PS: got a brand new battery

water / condensation in the gas line; sugar in the gas line; the alternator, are a few things i can think of. what climate are you in, and what has the weather been like?

Yeah main relay or the ignition module- you can pull your module out of the distributor, take it to auto zone, and have it tested. The main relay is behind the driver's kick panel below the steering wheel. Those are the two common culprits.

ight.... going to check the main relay & that ignition module..... sounds like the logical culprits..... for start-up situation but shutting off while driving might be something else.... will let evryone know soon.... somebody got another idea or probable solution....

Thank you for ALL the inputs!!!!!

If the main relay is actually going out it is definitely a likely culprit for the engine quitting while you're driving.

Mine used to do it at 70 miles an hour. Id be stuck on the side of the road for 10 minutes waiting to be able to start my car. After I replaced it, everything was fine. Also had some power loss while accelerating.

I tried to PM but somehow I don't have that feature.....

Anyhooo..... I was checking thru the Autozone website looking for the main relay but there's no listing of that sort for a MAIN RELAY. Is the relay called accessory power?

This is what Autozone lists:
relay - a/c compressor
relay - a/c condensor
relay - accessory power
relay - blower motor
relay - radiator fan

You may have to go to Honda to get one. If you take the old one in you can check, but I bet a place like Napa would be more likely to be able to cross reference part numbers- and to have it.

ive always bought mine from honda.

ive always bought mine from honda.

Holy Crap! I called the local Honda dealer.....

$96 for Main Relay

$150 for the Ignition Module

Thank GOD for the internet!!!

Found the same parts on Ebay for 1/4 or less of price!

It's def the main relay!!!

That's why the car shut off while driving.... the car acted like the fuel pump went out.....

Thanks for the internet, HONDASWAP and all the advice from you guys..... I saved $$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
