LOL been here bout 2.5 years, Finally got a honda. Its a 1990 EF Hatch. Not the prettiest, but it comes w/a few goodies already. I'll list them below:

Civic SI seats (I believe them to be '06 seats):D
Header.
Magnaflow Muffler:cool:
Straight Pipe from Header to Muffler.
CAI.
94 Dseries shortblock.
VTEC head (unsure of year or which one atp)
Coil Over Conversion. (not on car.. but comes with)
New Rear Pads for the Drum brakes.(less I got to buy):D
Custom Color (.....)

I believe its the auto with the 1.5L engine. Could be the 1.6 but as of right now I'm sticking with it being a 1.5. I am also looking into a 5spd swap, cause this auto is slow as shit. If I had to guess, I'd say its somewhere around 50(ish) hp/65tq to the wheels through the auto. I'm hopeful a 5 spd swap will free up some of them. It has 170K miles (just breaking in right) And is (I believe) in need of an o2 sensor.

It's amazing, I drifted over hear because some Lovely female was kind enough to post pics of her tits, made a few aquaintences, told some jokes, saw more tit-ay pictures and have pretty much just Lurked ever since. Now I guess I can finally put this forum to use. Don't worry I do know what the search button is, and I have spent most of the day here reading. I know absolutely nothing about these cars/drivetrains so I may have some stupid (to some of you) questions, but I promise they only get asked if I can't get the info from searching.

I am attaching the only pics I have of the car ATM. Sorry they are kinda crappy Cellphone Pics. But it tells the car's visual story.

Very nice. Welcome to the fold Doc. :)

Ha, I didn't know these things were so popular, I've already had offers on the seats (which I think I may take cause they're awful uncomfortable to me) I took it to an individual I trust w/these cars and he told me I've got a fairly solid little car. I'm not sure what can be done w/these little cars, the performance enthusiast in me is screaming turbo, 5speed swap, and attack the suspension. The responsible family man in me is saying 5 speed swap it, change the seats, Do what I can to make it more comfortable and snappy and leave the damn thing alone. Paint it, throw a decent suspension set up on it, put some rims and good tires and drive it till the wheels fall off it.

Nick (my honda buddy) tells me I can swap in an integra console (I think) so I can get an arm rest, and some cup holders (my biggest dislike about the car is not having cupholders) This car did solidify one thing for me, I need to loose a bit of weight. At 6'3" 350(ish) lbs, yeah I imagine I look all kinds of funny getting in and out of this little car.

I know it has a bseries motor between the fenders, what can I do with it to give the car a bit more get up and go? (my other biggest dislike of the car... 0-60 in like an hour it feels like) I'm used to a Mustang... push the loud pedal and hold on tight. This one... eh not so much.

nice ef. You can do tons of stuff to these cars. I have the same car just one year newer. Do a swap. Either dohc zc or a b18b1. They're both cheap and easy.

If you already have a B under the hood, you can do a LOT to it. Are you sure it's not a D though? Very few people take the trouble to put an automatic B series engine in.

If you have a D, 300-400whp isn't too hard to get to with the right setup.

If you have a B, 500whp isn't too bad with the right setup.

fix the damn muffler. i think having them turned like that on car other than an WRX or EVO is just tacky as hell looking...but thats my opinion. other than that, its a solid looking little car man

I think I saw it had a Bstamp, but I'll look again. I don't think 500hp in this thing would be good for me. It sounds like it'd be about as streetable as a tube chassis nitro meth car. The 300-400 sounds pretty sweet though. I'd like to put some surprise in a few faces, but I don't want to turn this car into an all out race car. Not too concerned w/ac, but I'd like to keep the heat and the creature comforts (such as they are in this lil box) BTW just so I know... any idea what those uncomfortable ass seats are worth?

Trust me when I say that I hate that damn thing as much as possible. However it'll stay like that untill I can find something that sounds nice and will fit like stock so I can get that damn coffe can off there.

Also I've done some searching in my area of the country and can get a dx series 5 speed for 100.00 or so. Is that good? Also how does one go about checking out a tranny thats not in the car? Any tips or signs to look for?

I actually think the seats are pretty comfortable- but the side bolsters are pretty aggressive- so if you don't fit into them, they're no good. I'd hunt around eBay's completed listings and Honda-Tech to see what you could get for them, but I'm going to guess at least $500 for the set.

500whp would be pretty ridiculous- but if you do have a B in there, 250whp on a responsive turbo setup would be fairly easy to achieve and still be wickedly fast on the street. 500whp would just make sure that most of the modded domestics couldn't mess with you on the highway.

LOL, was this Misti?

Don't remember her name, but her handle was Black Widow (IIRC) and I remember some tool giving her shit for having a messy floor. Hell I never even noticed the floor LOL.

Yeah those seats are agressive as hell in the side bolster department. I sat in a set of Tiburon (sic?) leathers a buddy of mine has in his 240 frankenstein swap (lsx v8 swapped) and they were perfect. 05 I think they were... I think I'm going to be looking into a swap of some sort for my SI seats.

As for the engine swap, I talked to my Honda guy and he seems to think that a good ls swap out of an Integra (complete w/5spd conversion) would suit my needs. I'm looking for about 220-250 hp/tq total. This car feels like it weighs NOTHING and I figure it should be enough to keep a smile on my face while I dd the crap out of it. I'll be picking up my Mustang coupe roler in a month or so, that's what I'm going to build to be FAST. I just want this thing to be quick, handle well, and be fun to drive. Hell I'll end up spending more on the suspension and body work/paint than I plan to on the drive train.

Yup, that was Misti I think.

You can probably get the Tiburon seats for less you can sell the Si seats for.

LS swap (1.8L non-VTEC) plus a really simple turbo setup would get your power up past 200whp and be about as reliable as you can get in a swap. No VTEC to deal with (and no crazy prices on parts that go with it), and the tuning with a small turbo would be much easier too.

Suspension > power for sure on these things. It's so easy to overpower the chassis since they're so light, so you're focusing in the right area. Go for a poly bushing master kit, get some nice coilovers and sway bars and braces and be done with it.

Thats a good thing for me, since I really just don't like the si seats. Now I just gotta go about finding some and then swapping them out so I can sell the ones I have. Might have to go Junkyard shopping for some stockers in decent condition so that I can put these up for sale.

I have a 67mm hybrid Garret turbo w/a 72mm exhaust housing that has a 4 bolt t4 flange that I was going to use on my mustang project. BUT since I no longer have that mustang and I also have an ITS turbo, brand new never been used. 72 mm with a .84 A/R I'm kind of sitting here w/two turbo's that I don't know if they will work for what I'm planning. Any opinions on that Cal?

Yeah I found out just how easy it is to overpower this little car today in the corners. Now some of it is definately the narrow ass half bald tires, but holy shit it was white knuckle "Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit" time for real. Then I laughed about it all the way home. (with less agressive corner entry points for sure) Ok so ply bushing master kit.. I know where to source that, nice coilovers... yeah I'll probably get some ideas from the suspension section of the forums, same w/the sway bars.. but what do you mean braces... what am I bracing on these little cars. You talking a strut tower brace? Ok, if so... I'm good there. But what/where else would I need bracing?

I'm not really great on turbo sizing just from hearing the ratios- but give me a compressor map and then I'm happy. Sorry man. My gut feel though is that both the ones you have will be way too large for a responsive 1.8L build.

Good suspension and an LSD will help you out a LOT in the corners. LSD to put the power down, suspension to keep it all stable and planted. I actually have an 88-91 Energy Suspension master kit that I need to unload. ;)

Pick your spring rates and sway bar diameters carefully- they all need to work together. The general recommendation that a lot of the autocrossers like for sway bars might just put you off a cliff if you go canyon bombing a lot too.

As far as bracing, yeah- strut tower braces are always good. Just make sure they don't have any joints in them or they're mostly useless. Hit the underside of the car too- traction bar kit to reduce wheel hop up front, underbody braces, seam welding if you're crazy enough to do it (I would)... there are quite a few things you can do to increase the stiffness of the car. The more unconventional stuff will make you less safe in a crash though. A roll cage helps a ton and doesn't cost too much if you install it right, but that's getting a bit crazy for something that you don't want to turn into a money pit.

I figured as much, looks like it's off to research some turbo sizing.

shoot me a pm on what you're needing out of it shipped to 35209 and maybe we can work something out.

Yeah, not looking to cage this particular beast. I just want something fun to drive daily that will return a bit of fuel mileage. Maybe some fun stuff on an uncrowded freeway, but mostly I want to this little car to handle. I don't want the ride overly stiff, but I'm not expecting Caddy type softness either. I'm willing to sacrifice to an extent.

Lemme go dig it up- then will send you a PM. It's buried in the garage somewhere. I'll look for it today/this week.

Stiffening up the chassis will actually make the ride better- it allows the suspension to do more of the work instead of transferring shocks into the body of the car. Caging a daily driver is pretty extreme, but good braces can be had on the cheap, and seam-welding is free if you know how to weld. Makes body repairs a pain though.

So aparently(sic?) I've RE-AQUIRED my first Honda

Long story short, sold the car, new owner (my brother the idiot) nearly burns up the engine. I swap in another of the same after trading an old clunker I had that ran but was ugly as sin. Sooooo Now I have the car back and guess I'll hang on to it for a bit. Sooo uhh calesta, ever find the bushing kit for these cars? Really interested in it now... Shoot me a pm.

Yeah I've still got it- just have to dig it up. I might still hold onto it too- probably getting into an EF project myself. I'll let you know in a few weeks.

See, now I'm gonna have to pm you w/tech questions till you answer up.:D:ph34r::D
