Mustang gets the 5.0 again in 2011?

I guess that mere 10ish horsepower gap between the GT and a BASE Camaro really got to them. And how the hell do they figure that an SS gave the mustang no challenge? Car and Driver and Motor Trend both rated it better IIRC. I like the newest look but I still take a bowtie first any day.
Ford needs to cut the shit and just start dumpin Navigator blocks and 4 valve heads in the Mustangs. Or keep the5 liter and top it with a 3 plus liter Whipple.
I don't like any of the new shit that's comin out. The new Z28 is forecast to have LSA engine in it, which is a failure of a supercharged mill. And Ford is uppin their displacement but not the rest of their game.

The early 90s ZR1 had an all aluminum 32v V8. Off the top of my head I believe they contracted Lotus to design, if not build, the thing.
The thing with Chevy is that they're working with tried and true technology that they have experience with, and that helps to keep the costs down. I would question how much further Chevy would be willing to go in a streetable car than the 650ish hp the current ZR-1 makes.
On the other hand, the old Northstar V8's were cutting edge back in the day, and the Aurora's had a smaller version of those motors.

If it aint broke, dont fix it. Besides, I dont think they can get away with making too much more power than they do already now that the government owns them. Bama dont need no racekaa.

Yes! This shows that the 32v V8s that Chevy built had plenty of potential, yet they still don't use it much. I used Chevy as an example because I don't know any Ford ones besides that '11 Mustang. The UZ is a great example of what you can accomplish with a large 4v-head V8.
Understood that they can't(or don't want to) make more power, but at least give us the platform to do so.

Here's my impression of Ford Engineers; "Hey guys, we suck at doing anything the right way so here's a Modular 4.6 with more valves and oh hey here's an Eaton blower that makes shit for power now because we're going to make this thing suck air through a 1/4" straw to pass emissions regulations... yeah thats the ticket... because we wouldn't want to spend the time building an efficient engine that has a ton of potential on the LEGAL side of things like Chevrolet did with that LS6 engine that will still destroy this car..."
But hey at least it was only 35k, so the buyers could actually afford to pay for the 1000 dollar gas guzzler tax that they included into the base price...

A DOHC 32v 5.0l is indeed nice. I know the Olds Aurora had something like that and they built some nice race engines out of those.

The 03/04 Cobras. And the Eatons on those were only mid 2 liter displacement IIRC. A 5.0 with a 3 liter or bigger Whipple would decimate the older setup.
You right, Ford did miss the little things on the 03/04's, but I still give em more credit than GM. I've witnesses one Cobra make nearly 400 with pullies, catless x-pipe, CAI, and tune. And another made nearly 500 with the same parts and a Steigemester (SP?) ported Eaton. The highest I've seen from 4th gen f-bodies like mine with full bolt ons is still a lil short of the first Cobra I mentioned.
I've seen a basically stock LS1 with a blower make 600+. Spending 4 years on a Mustang site does that. We could argue this all day really, both are great for gobs of power, no traction and a shitton of money for low 1/4 mile times. But Chevy built a better car for the money, IMO.
Vette > Fbody > Cobra
i give ford credit for not being failures financially... and the new f150s look awesome. if i only had 27k...
