I just thought everyone would like to know that I recently purchased a new coffee grinder.

I should get a picture of the coffee shop downstairs, thats what mine looks like.

I've got a burr grinder and a 12 cup Mr. Coffee. Probably a total of $60 invested. Makes my perfect black coffee reliably every morning. No cream or sugar involved. Maybe a little Bailey's though.

I see you have a bag of "Really Cheap Coffee" with your space age coffee maker. What the hell is that thing?

The machine is a Bodum Granos. It's wonderful. It even leaves a solid puck.

The grinder is a Jura Capresso. I've only used it a couple times so far, but it's got some of the best burrs that I've seen in a sub-$100 grinder. I'd venture to say that the burrs are the same part from some of Jura's more expensive fully-automatic machines.

How much did you pay for that thing? It looks like it has living quarters for a mini-barista in the bubble.

I used to have a $10 grinder, but I burned it out and upgraded to the burr grinder. Well, actually my wife upgraded me. I would have been satisfied with the el cheapo model.

I think it was $400. I can't remember. I bought it on amazon.com.

I used to have a $10 grinder too, until I got tired of holding the button, and I wired a switch onto it. The phone rang one day, and I forgot about it, and it burned up. The next one I bought was still a blade grinder, but it had a timer. After the first one of those burned out I bought another one. Then the blades dulled on that one, so I started looking at other options.

Office. I'm home like 9 hours every day, most of which are spent sleeping.

I kind of miss those days. At the office for 16-17 hours a day, every meal is taco bell, smoking 2 packs a day, just go home long enough to grab a few hours sleep and do it again the next day.

Now i spend no more than 8 hours at the office, work from home, get drunk with the wife, continue to work for another 5-6 hours and troll hondaswap in between.

Anyway. My coffee bar is bad ass. 3 16 cup insulated holders, a giant commercial coffee machine. <3

Sadly, i drink a coke every morning instead of coffee. my stomach just cant handle it anymore.

Yeah, I'm unmarried, and have no life, that seems a lot like my days come to think about it. I'm here from 0700 to at least 1900. Sometimes I eat all three meals at my desk.

yeah back in the day I'd work all night and watch my son all day and if I was awake I was drinking coffee. Almost 2 pots a day by myself. I finally had to force myself to cut back to 3 cups a day because I was getting heartburn/acid reflux like a mofo. I still need to have it in the morning to get going but it's not a crutch like it used to be.

I'll try and remember to post some pics when I get home.

and a Breville conical burr grinder.

I'd like to have a nice espresso machine, but don't have the money/space.

I've got a bodum french press somewhere that I never use anymore, it's just too much work.

Kylph: I thought you had an espresso machine?

man you guys live a whole different kind of life....

i work outside, almost everyone i know works outside... no desks, no office, no fancy coffee devices. anyone that drinks coffee drinks the cheapest most easily available shit. i am not cut out to a be a city person, or be cooped up in an office all day drinking coffee.

Too much work? It's like the easiest way to make coffee.

And I ordered a breville machine from woot.com, but they refuse to ship to Alaska.
I'm kind of glad I didn't get it, because my mother in law got one, and it sucks.

Are they selling the throwback DP down there? I walked into the gas station to get one the weekend before christmas and they had throwback pepsi, dew and Dr Pepper made with real cane sugar. Its SO much better than high fructose corn syrup.
