My problem is that I let my 19 yr old change the plugs...he forgot to tighten 2 of'em.
He said the motor started acting 'funny' and decided to drive it home....
125 miles....freeway miles. He got to within 2 miles of the house before it froze.

After reading a lot on all the forums and shopping for a straight replacement
D16Z6 long block, I realized for just a few hundred dollars more I could get a
B16 swap.

So now I'm in the market for a B16(A) to drop into a '93 EG del Sol. Current setup
is a D16Z6, S20 trans, P28 ECU chipped and modded for VTEC operation and an
OBD1 engine harness. Stock pump and injectors. Eidelbrock intake plenum and
cold air intake.

WTB:

B16 (JDM) Engine (less than 60k miles?)
LSD Hydro Trans (preffered)
Shift Linkage
Engine and Trans Mounts
ECU for Motor
Half shaft and TransAxles
Performance Clutch if possible

Did I miss anything?

Also, since the car was lowered and a performance handling package
was installed (Skunk2 springs and shocks, Front and Rear sway bars
and performance wheel and tires, 4 wheel dics out of an Integra) I have
found I need front and rear camber adjusters, so I'm in the market for
those as well.

I have $2000 and will purchase within the next 30 days. If anyone has
what I need or can put me in touch with some one who does I would
appreciate a heads up at giles42 AT comcast DOT com

Would prefer something within 300mi of Mobile, AL. 36605

Thanks in advance

Not sure whats around Alabama and if you are looking for a B16A (B16B costs much more) You are most likely looking at a JDM motor since the 94-95 Del Sol (B16A3) is the only plug and play USDM B16 DOHC VTEC OBD1 in the states....and hard to find. You can also find a B16A2 out of a 99/00 Civic Si but electrical mod's need to be done in order to turn it OBD1 (dizzy, alt, injectors need to be OBD1). In my opinion, most of those 99/00 B16A2's are hammered (AKA Rode Hard and Put Away Wet). they came out when it was Fast and Furious lmao.

Some reputable companies for JDM swaps in Canada, California and east coast. Look in the parts for sale section of this forum for some companies and look at hmotorsonline.com (well known and reputable)

If you want to spend about $500-700 more...you can probably find a USDM B18C1 motor and get tons of more torque. I have the B16 in an 92 hatch and I wish I would have spent the extra money for that torque (But I had a B18B1 for ten years before hand and was spoiled). The B16 5th gear sucks at highway speeds too (70mph is about 4200rpms)

You have a Del Sol which, in my opinion, is substantially heavier then my hatch so the need for torque is more prevalent. Whatever you do, keep the Engine Harness for the D16Z6 and use it. You will need to extend the VTEC solenoid and oil pressure plugs and maybe the O2 but if you buy JDM the harness that comes with it will be RHD. This means every plug to a shock tower is on the opposite side and is a pain to shorten/extend/soder. You can also use all the D16Z6 mounts except the back trans mount (needs to be B-series).

If you are looking for something to pick up....maybe you'll get luck on this site or you need to look for a recycler that deals primarily with Hondas if you want USDM.

Thx CaFrog, that's pretty much what I have learned as well through my research.
I'm hoping for someone to see this as a sure sale (which it is) and jump on it rather
than wait for a "maybe in the future" sale.

I would love to have the B18, but my budget will not allow it.

Unless of course someone has a B18 full swap they would like
to get a sure $2k for....well, hope does spring eternal :)

B18B1 can be purchased for a little less then a B16A but its non VTEC with 20lbs more torque

If you were in Nor-Cal...I might say hell with it and sell you mine. But I jsut bought the USDM B16A3 P30 ECU (flippin' $250) so I can BAR my car with all the CA Smog crap. but I can see the B18C1 (or C5) in my future

I would sell you mine BUT I just did the oil change lol.

Try hmomotorsports they ship and no sales tax because your out of state!

Magana...I'd be willin to bet you get slapped...a lot!

(mutters)...teasin biotch....

Its an OBD0....I need an OBD1

Waaaay to much to convert it
