why exactly this health care reform is going to cost the amount of money they expect?
seriously, i could understand if there was a government paid (free) healthcare plan available. but it seems that its just going to be a law stating that you have to have insurance, and how much you have to pay.

why is that going to cost upwards of a trillion dollars?

what am i missing?
theres just so much crap here that doesnt make sense to me.

i understand plenty about it, and why we are getting screwed, but i just cant seem to find anything stating where this money is going.

where this money is going.

It will be channeled through various government appropriations and end up in your congressman's lake house/bayliner/carribean timeshare/retirement account/corporation that he is a boardmember of/etc.

Seriously, they are robbing us blind. Someone said no incumbents in 2010, I say we should have impeached them long ago, and jailed them for their crimes against America.

just shut your damn mouth and pay

besides even if they did take the time to try to explain it to you, your feeble "commoner" brain could not even begin to grasp the complexities of this

so stop wasting their time... just trust them this is for the best

lmao.
well E, im assuming you have changed sides,
wait....

Your really a politician arent you?
almost had me fooled with your guise as a penguin.

damn you.

as of today, i have officially invested my retirement fund into foreign currency and stocks in honda motor company. no lie. the united states is destined for failure and i just dont understand why these politicians feel the need to put the nail in america's coffin instead of trying to revive it. at this point, they are polishing the brass rails on the titanic.

Invested in Honda? I take it you missed the CR-Z post.

HMC is the only automotive company to report growth these past three years. when the world economy is bad, honda does well. when the national economy is bad and you need money, HMC stock is not a bad thing to have on hand.

Phillip Morris is better. :)

Phillip Morris is better. :)

I like where your head is at sir.

Most of the cost will come from complete waste and mismanagement of the program. But really, they have no idea how much it will cost. They just threw a dart at made up numbers and ran with it. The worst part about it is we have to pay into this system regardless of of your current status with insurance. Add to the fact that we have to start paying the moment it passes 4 years before it actually goes into effect. Then we have the folks who will abuse the system. For every headache they will report to the ER and they will find a doctor that will run an MRI just to get a chunk of government cheese.

Now the shitty part about it is that most folks assume that doctors are going to WANT to work with the feds. When in reality its the exact opposite. The good doctors will end up leaving. See here in America we used to have this idea that if you busted your ass and did amazing work you would be duly compensated for your work. This will change that whole system. So we end up with a shit load of shitty doctors either misdiagnosing or simply not caring about patient care which will lead to increased costs for the rest of us.

i'd venture to say toyota is a better investment than honda at this point

back to topic...
my old lady works for a incredibly large health insurance company and they already sent out memos to the employees to expect they own health coverage costs to more than double next year due to the new legislation

just a heads up from an insider

That will be the initial impact. Due to small business dumping insurance for their employees and forcing them to go the National route. So when these insurance companies start losing tens of thousands of subscribers what is there only recourse? That's right, passing the cost along to the consumer.

The part that pisses me off the most is the fact that there has been zero debate about this. They have not talked about allowing insurance companies to compete across state lines like auto insurance. Have you ever wondered how All State will only charge you 100 bucks a month for full coverage? That is because they get to draw from millions of people. Also, the government will be adding yet another layer to an already messy system. If the government would just get its ass out of the way and allow us to directly talk to our doctor and our doctor to talk directly to our insurance companies that alone would save a lot of money.

Where are you moving to? See that is the problem, everyone says they are going to just move. But where else in the world do you still have a shot at living the life you want?

yup, it will be illegal to not have healthcare.

which means, even though i don't have it, and don't want it, i will now have to pay for it... out of money i don't have.... which means, i'm not paying for it... which means, i'll be in jail if this passes, costing more money....... oh, and getting free healthcare :D

the thing is, there are more places than america that allow you to live as you wish.
not all countries claim a free democracy, which is just what america does, it "claims" to be free.
i would have no problem living in a country that has different kinds of government systems, my biggest issue is that ours does bullshit under the disguise of being a free country.

europe sounds good to me, just about anywhere there.
also, australia, and new zealand sounds good.
