ok i hook a tach up in my del sol everything works but the meter it doesnt move i connected it directly to the neg of coil but i noticed that the spring is missing out of the coil would that effect it not moving????

does the ground need to go to the battery? i have it grounded to the lighter

no it doesnt have to, just make sure its grounded well, preferably directly to metal

the negative of the coil? why? the tach test connector is around the driver side fender/firewall area. it is a 2 pin connector. thwat is where you want to connect the tach wire at, not the negative of the coil.

black to a solid metal ground.green goes to the tach wire from the dizzy,white goes to lights and red goes to a switched power source..
