Yeah I had to drill a civic once, holy **** was that a PITA. pull the trim off the pillar inside as well as the door panel, which you've done. Then if it is accessible drill out the loop that the latch locks around. If you cannot access it, which was the case with the civic, then you first have to drill multiple holes, in a line basically, vertically so you can see the round steel bar loop. What my dad and I did was to cut that loop with a sawzaw once you have a long enough slot to get the drill through. We knew that slot would be covered by the trim when we put it back on, make sure you aren't going to mess something up you regret later.
Anyway, those loops are basically free at a salvage yard haha, and replacing that latch is a real pain but humanly possible. I was told that 1 in 1,000 or something like that of the 93 Accords had that problem, by a friend of mine who had that problem. Well good luck man.
