I am starting the swap tomorrow. Going from d15b7 to d16z6... I got a few questions though. I didnt have a chance to find the p28 ECU so I was wondering if the motor will run with the ECU from the DX just to get it home from the shop then when i get the p28 i'll wire in vtec.. I have a limited time at the shop that is why.

Also when removing the rear mount(behind intake)do I just take the bolt that is going through or do I remove the bracket from the engine?

I have a engine hoist and I was thinking of bolting part of the chain to the Powersteering bracket think that will work?

Thanks

P.S if u have any last minute tips/advice.

The dx ecu will get the car back to your house from the shop. For that rear mount, all you have to do is remove the bolt in order to get the engine out. When I pulled out my d-series I used the power steering bracket as well. GL with the swap!

One way I check that is by unscrewing one of the plastic caps on the line. Then I take a rag and throw it over the charge port. I push down with a small screwdriver on the needle valve to see if anything comes out. There is almost always a little something left in the system, even if it isnt working worth a shit. If the car still runs and drives it might be worth it to have someone with the proper equipment to evacuate the system for you before you start. That way your not going to get sprayed with nasty shit and release into the environment.

Yea... I am just gonna remove the compressor and leave it attached to lines. Then when I put the new motor in i'll just bolt it to the bracket but I won't hook the belt or wiring up to it.

Well we had a few hours to work on the car but didnt get the motor out. I got stuck on getting the shift linkage disconnected... There is 2 pins couldnt get either pin out. tried punches etc.

you have to pound the shit outta it from the bottom. i did my second swap about a month ago. what i did was disconect the linkage from the shifter then pull the motor out a bit then hit it from the top. came out easy.

I have a pic in my build thread of the problem.. Not 100% sure which pin.

Thanks alot man.
