I saw it!

And no, it's no more impressive in person then any picture you've seen thus far has made it out to be.

Actually, Honda's entire booth was quite a bummer. Last year they at least had a couple S2Ks on display. This year they didn't even bother to put an Si Civic out on the floor. The only slightly interesting thing there was a rack of HFP and Mugen parts.

Fail Honda, fail... :(

Honda is going to be surpassed by Hyundai and Kia here quickly. And it many ways they have already surpassed Honda. Its really rather sad.

I actually spent more time at the Hyundai booth then I did the Honda booth. I didn't even bother sitting in any of the Hondas, but I sat in a Genesis and their new "Equus" luxury car: Hyundai Equus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It really is sad... :(

Ok never mind- you posted those up while I was posting up. :D

Yeah, I just keep going back and forth on it. I don't love it, but from some angles it looks kind of cool, and other angles it looks like garbage. I really don't like the rear end. It's like they just gave up on trying to come up with something original and just stuck the Insight sedan's ass on to it...

Didnt the OWNER of hondaswap recently purchase a genesis coupe?

He sure did. What I am saying though is a lot of regular folks are starting to look at these two companies as contenders. It wasnt that long ago that Kia and Hyundai where looked at as cheap last resort rigs.

for the most part, kia and hyundai still have that reputation. but remember buying an audi back in the early 90's? people would have laughed at you like no other.

give hyundai 10 years, i'm sure they will be comparable in quality and exceed in performance.

my hyundai is pretty damn nice.

interior is at least on par if not better than my sti was.
it doesn't touch the M, but it shouldn't.

:werd:

Hyundai is actually starting to develop some credentials. Kia's not quite there yet, but give both of them 10 years or so and things will be completely different...

I thought Kia was owned by Hyundai?

Wouldn't be surprised if they did a Honda/Acura type setup with Hyundai marketing the higher-end and Kia marketing the economy line.

Either way, most people I know that own Hyundais from within the last few years have said they are just as good as any Honda or Toyota they have owned/driven.

From what I can tell, at least in spirit, right now Hyundai is right about where Honda was in the early 90s. I think if they could shake the disposable car image they'd really take off.

I thought Kia was owned by Hyundai?

Yep, it is. Although it wasn't always a Hyundai brand. It was it's own company until 1998 and then it got bought out by Hyundai...

I think that's probably what's going to happen. Like I said earlier, Hyundai had the "Equus" on display at Detroit. Apparently they've had some some success with luxury cars over in Japan already, and now they're looking to expand into the luxury market in the US.

So yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if a few years down the line more of Hyundai's cars will trend towards the upscale, and Kia will keep on trucking with economy lines...

Yeah, the CR-Z is going to be epic fail. Honda needs to start stamping out the CR-X again. I'll take two. Hell, sell it for 25K, and I'd still buy it.

No pics of the HFP parts? Damn, I want to see the poly 06-10 civic si engine mounts and the ss 06-10 civic si brake lines. And the camber & caster plates.

I told him he needed to just buy it. Looks like someone beat him to it.

Couple more pictures:

this pic is quite nice because it doesn't show you the front or the ass. i'd be deleting the dorsal fin on top, and i'd get it in black or white if i wasn't so sad about the low fuel economy.

ps i'm just really bothered by the front fenders' fitting in the door/window area. something about that sharp point of color jutting up between the windshield and the door glass just pisses me off.

CRZ concept car had it right - a nice long fluid line:

and of course, the CRX as well:
