I'm from Jersey but I'm wondering about what I need to do to pass inspection. Right now I'm running a straight pipe which is an automatic fail at best, I have my stock exhaust I can put on for inspection if need be.

But, my horn doesn't work, I have a cel bc I swapped a motor in that doesn't have this thing the stock motor had so it's throwing the light that I can't bypass. And its slammed and I don't know where the stock struts are or my stock camber kits. So basically how much do I need to change to pass inspection or how can I buy a sticker?

It's a eg hatch by the way with d15b swap.

you need to get the cel taken care of..you need to put a quiet exhaust with cat on the car..im pretty sure it has to be so many inches or higher of the ground..and the horn has to work..
anymore problems with the car??

i dunno about dirty jersey but in NY (outside nyc) only OBD2 cars need to be clear of CEL's
read your states laws and ask your friends, or your parents friends where they go

Thats all the problems, I can basically put my old steering wheel back on and hook the horn up if I can remember how (I have a momo steering wheel) but the cel is probably the biggest problem since I can't get rid of it, I forget what it was exactly but its one of the little airhoses that hooks up behind the valve cover.

And my friends don't know shit, the only one that can help is my friends dad bc he might be able to pass me at his job but I haven't talked to either of them in months.

You need to get a copy of the motor vehicle inspection code and read it carefully. Every state is very different and until you know exactly what requirements are for ride height etc., it is all worthless speculation.

Some states don't even allow you to do certain engine swaps and from what I hear, New Jersey's code is very strict so...go to a station or an MVC office and request to see a copy of the inspection code.

let it go through inspection and let them tell you what you need to fix with in the time limit....then decide if it's worth putting all the money into

well the main things I'm worried about is the cel, i believe its from the d15b not having a purge solenoid on the back of the intake mani, is there a way i can bypass that?

or even besides that will it automatically fail for emissions? i never took a car though inspection with a swap.

i'm not really sure, all i know is the motor and my car are both obd1

Wow I'm glad I live in Canada. You don't even have to get an E-test done where I live. And cels and hight don't matter either. And for swaps...the only thing they look under the hood for is if your battery is strapped down good.

yeah but...i mean.....Canada.......come on

Are EG hatches OBDII? If so take the car to a place where the inspector overlooks your mods and just gives you the OBDII test.

If its not OBDII and requires a sniffer test to pass then research methods to bypass this . . including a substitute automobile (provided you are cool with the inspector).

If your car requires an OBDII test & you have a non-OBDII swap, you may be S.O.L as I was with my 1996 Nissan 240 (OBDII) that had an OBDI SR20DET. I had to create an inspection sticker via photochop to get the cops to leave me alone. This worked for the entire two years I owned the car.

my friend actually screen printed his sticker for his yota pickup but thats too sketchy for me, with my luck id be caught the first week. a few years back i knew this guy who had to buy his stickers but i havent talked to him since and dont know where he got them, i guess he knew someone.

great idea on printing a sticker
lol

in NY, i typically just use the temporary 10 day inspection sticker until i get pulled over for it
no one ever bothers you about it unless you are pulled over or go through a road check

same thing goes with expired inspections, only caught during a road check, unless its december, then you better make sure you have the right color year going into january

not sure what info a NJ inspection has, but if its like NY, you can always just scout your local junk yard for a sticker with a little life left on it.
the junkyard will prob give you the boot if they catch you cause they can get in trouble for selling stickers

I made mine on photochop.

Basically, any "fake" sticker won't fool a state cop with a barcode reader. If it is the correct colour, displays the correct make/model & vin, it will fool cops who drive past you quickly (the colour) or those who glance quickly while walking past.

Do not break the law with a fake sticker.

Wow, I'm really lucky for Ohio then. They frankly don't give two shits. I've never had to take any car anywhere for anything. Ever. I could put a 350 OBD7000 in a Geo Metro with a custom made RHD swap, no doors, 10'' body lift with 40 inch swampers, and not have a single problem. Assuming that was possible that is.

Thats jersey for you, this kid im friends moved to north carolina and he might as well be driving a stolen truck because it pretty much would break every law in jersey, yet cops in nc will go up and ask him about his truck like theyre boys

ps i actually LOL'd at "obd7000 haha
