The show last night was flat out awesome. They ended with playing Freebird with ZZtop on lead, Conan on rhythm and Will Ferrel singing.
 
Last night was good DESPITE Will Ferrell. Conan really upped the ante the last couple weeks. Either way, I still watch Letterman over Conan/Jay Leno. Which means I watch Letterman about 2 times a year.

I will have to say that Conan has all my respect for actually upping his game during what has to be the hardest part of his professional career. I just like Dave, always have.

As for Leno, if it was possible to hit him in that jaw hard enough to knock him out I'd do it, he's pretty much sealed up douchbage of the century with 90 years to go.
 
I always liked the headlines on Leno. The typo shit that's absolutely hilarious. Remember an ad for a buick lesbian one time when I watched it.

I fail to understand why this is so hard. He is getting a $30 million severance package, and, he's going to get snatched up immediately for movies, other shows, or pretty much anything that he couldn't have done because of his NBC contract. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

So oh well, he can't just hit cruise control and do the same show every night like Leno did for 30 years. Big fuckin' deal...It'll probably be better for his career. I haven't really seen or heard him since he started the show.
 
it's hard for him because he's already rich and his, not to mention almost every comedian's, dream job is to host the tonight show.
 
That is the big issue here, The Tonight Show is pretty much the holy grail for these guys. Also, Conan did nothing wrong with his show or his ratings. The guy that is running NBC is just a complete and utter moron.

I suppose there is a lot of truth to that but, I feel like The Tonight Show is the best place for a comedian as much as the Escalade is the best vehicle ever made. It is a matter of populous perception and not necessarily all that true...I don't know if that makes any sense but it does to me....:confused:
 
would you rather make 30 million over night and not have a job, or have a job you love and make 100s of millions over the years.

If anyone likes Jay Leno just check out Howard Stern on Sirius.
 
Add to the fact that five years ago you where promised a huge promotion and the ability to do what you want when you want more or less and then have it all taken away due to no fault of your own. It isn't Conans fault that Leno's 1030 show sucks ass, or that NBC's management has been shitty for the last 6 or 7 years.

I see your point but the analogy is way off. The Escalade has not been the holy grail of drivers for the last 50 years. Beyond that, there are thousands of Escalade and only one Tonight Show. The chair of the tonight show is like a throne to comedians, they grew up watching Johnny Carson.
 
Conan is "creepy". Letterman, Leno, they looked and acted like good guys, nice guys, guys you could sit and laugh over coffee with. Conan looks like a serial killer who molests children for a hobby. If I sat down at a table with him I couldn't look him in the eye. I know nothing of him, he might be the kindest gentleman on the planet.. But he creeps me out.
 
I like conan a lot, but bottom line, while some say it was no fault of his own, if he had enough ratings NBC would have kicked leno to the curb.
 
The real problem is that the NBC affiliates were pitching a bitch about Leno's shitty ratings leading into the local news shows at night, which in turn had a snowball effect on Conan's ratings at 1130. I think Conan is gonna come out of this smelling like roses in the long run. I imagine ABC or Fox will take a run at him.
