I know some of you are probably thinking bad things about them, but hear me out. I used to have hood pins in my old CF hood to keep the hood from coming up because my primary latch was broken. Well they were defective and the cheap material i opted for broke at 60mph and, lets say i lost the hood and windshield. I really wanna keep the car looking Stock/Jdm ish and hood pins dont help, but i think i may need some.

My point; i have a JDM hood with a USDM front bumper and lights, so i have a nice 1/2 gap between the bumper and hood/lights and it lets in a decent bit of air and that air makes the hood bounce around. Not only does it look bad but im always cautious driving 60+ mph. The option of spending 300$ for a new JDM bumper/lights to block air flow has been an idea, but i thought maybe if anyone has done or heard of some sort of hood pin that doesnt look rice or is stealthy. I dont wanna ruin another CF hood with holes, but i dont wanna loose a 400$ hood + windshield again.

Ideas? Use the poll if you want, but comments are appreciated.

regular ricer style hoodpins worked great on all my carbon hoods. just this set alone on this car probably did 50K miles, and 2 cross country trips no problem. $10 bucks.

hood pins are illegal at most tracks. keep that in mind if you ever plan to go down the strip or something.

ive never had the problem in my grey car.

new england dragway (NH)
bristol international (bristol TN)
oxford plains (oxford ME)

I might have to look into some hood pins. i was test driving my hatch and now i also need a hood and windshield! lol

if i do get a carbon fibre hood and pins i will defiantly be going for a set like this.

why not just get a new latch and a usdm hood that fits? :shrug2:

your car will still have a gap and you aren't fixing the problem. you are still going to have hood lift issues and putting pressure on it. it will get bent and torqued again, and quite possible release.

don't hack the problem. fix it right the first time and you wont have to repeat the same issue.

Because i was PLANNING to get a whole front end conversion, after my last hood accident i decided the Hood was the 1st part of the new Front End..

This is my Daily, but i do plan to run it at the track in the future. The primary lock does work so would that still prevent me from running at a track even if i did get pins?

Edit: I think i saw a thread around HS about installing those Latch style hood pins, or maybe it was another site, but does anyone have any experience installing them? How hard is it.

 Did you completely miss my post?

I think all pins are cheesy. Most people that run pins have a beat up hood that wont shut and dont have enough mods to warrant such a flashy thing. Its like those guys that put washers in the hood hinges to raise the back of the hood for their CX motor. Sorry to say but all I think about is perpetrators and posers as they paint their rear drums red and put another sticker on the body. These are the people that make our passion for Hondas seem silly to others.

I hope your not directing any of that towards me CAFROG, because i actually do have "enough mods" under my hood to warrant getting hood pins. I didn't ask your opinion on how you think of hood pins and flame on people who use them, i asked if i could use them in a non rice looking way for the actual purpose they were designed for, not just for the look. Though i do agree about the stickers and painting rear drums part.

But if that statement wasnt directed towards me at all, then nevermind :D

i buddy of mine uses the same hood pins linked in this thread. they work great and dont look ricey outside the fact that people that know better ask 'why are you using those'.

I'm not a big fan of temporary fixes. If your intent is to purchase the correct bumper, then why waste any time or money on hood pins? Just put that money towards the correct bumper...

exactly.

you are putting the cart before the horse. it's like buying the body kit and installing it before you can afford paint.

either buy the right shit or fix it right the first time.
