I am about to purchase a 91 hatch and i deff want to go H series do you think it is worth it? and can i have any tips on doing this. thanks

Well the motor and trans are about 3grand ur gonna need custom mounts that make the motor sit lower in the bay other wise hood won't close so that means u can't lower ur car as much or u can address the hood problem but it's gonna take a bit of work and money to do the swap ur probley lookin at 4 grand to complete the swap I'd just do a GSR swap before I'd do h series, probley better off doing h series in an eg, for the ef hatch ur gonna have to do hydro conversison cuz I don't think they have a cable trans for the h series, like I said it's gonna cost a bit, u could probley get a good gsr swap done for around 2g's

you can get a jdm h22 w/tranny for 1700 or so if you shop around. I hear these are lots of fun. I know a fewe people who have this swap and they all like it very much

Ok but u still have to account for the custom mounts for at least 200 I believe not true ur gonna havento look around cuz ur also gonna need the hydro conversion for ur ef it's gonna be a big project

I was thinking the same thing for my new crx. innovative makes mount kit which requires removal of trans mount and welding new mount forward a few inches. very simple if you have common sense and can weld.have a BFH handy as well. keep the motor high and cut out hood for clearance. a hood is cheaper than a blown motor. a cheap way of power is b20vtec then boost the hell out of it.hmotoronline has great prices on b20 and cable trans.

ABOUT A MONTH AGO I BOUGHT A SET OF CRX EF H22 SWAP MOUNTS ON EBAY - 75$ PLUS A COUPLE BUCKS FOR SHIPPING. SINCE THEN I DID THE SWAP ON MY 91 REX AND LET ME TELL YOU- IT WENT SWEET- NO I HAVENT FIRED THE MOTOR UP YET BUT AS FOR FIT AND FINISH- TIGHT BUT PERFECT- HELL 75$ vs 4-500$ HASPORT? I WOULD DO THE EBAY MOUNTS ANYDAY!- CHECK THEM OUT!

i bought my H23A vtec for 1300 and have a total of 5000 into and including cost of my car. explicitspeedperformance.net makes whole kits for h22 ef's including a bracket for the cable clutch to hydro tranny, alt relocation kit, and traction bar, as well as the mounts. I have no hood issues, but yes you have to be careful how low you go with the car because you will smack the headers. For the money its a great swap and a monster of a car.

i know japanstar by me has some good prices, just call them for actual prices because their website might be slow to update

It would be sweet for sure, but for the money/trouble you'd be better off doing a boosted B or D series. A D16A6 at 10 psi would probably easily beat a stock H22.

I love the idea of a stock running, Honda reliable H22 swap, but by the time you're done cutting, welding, and hammering that engine into the car there will be very little Honda quality and reliability left. It's too bad the H series is so large externally, I'd love to have that power and torque in my little CRX.

If you want to bring your 10psi D series and show me how much you will beat me by. And how do you figure that a stock D series running 10psi is more reliable than an H22 in a crx or civic. The only welding you have to do is for the tranny mount on the frame rail. Unless you have done the swap dont say that there is going to be very little honda quality and reliability left, you have no idea what you are talking about.

i say go with it.there is too much d and b series swaps.i am in the works on building a k killer.i have a 99 vtec accord motor,i need an h22 head, and need a b series tranny.from what i understand these bury k series.but anyway i say gor for it.

I agree, too many B/D series, and i think the K series is over rated. Dont get me wrong i think they have great potential, but they are too much money for a swap. I have lost to only one K series and it had 10K dumped into the motor, i dont have that much in my whole swap including the car. Anyone who can build a K killer for less money has my respect. Good luck with it.
