Ok...when I started my car this morning it was kind of loud, as temp increased the RPM started going crazy. Popped the hood to find my radiator was full of green slush! I had asked a friend to add some anti-freeze the other day since it was a little low, only to find out they added water by mistake! Guys help me out, whats the best way to get this unfroze?

Yea...I def dont want it to get worse. Right now its like slush. The temp this morning was 16 degrees, going up to 47 today, but tonight will go below freezing again. Someone told me to put some hot coals under the engine to slowly warm the block. Should I even attempt this?

I assume you don't have a garage? If you do, put a space heater under the car and warm up the engine that way. May have already toasted the water pump..

If you don't have a garage, Use the space heater and a tarp or something.. Close the hood, seal off the engine bay from wind with the tarp, and warm up the engine.. Just use common sense and don't burn your car to the ground.. Give it long enough to get the whole block kinda warm, then drain that garbage and put fresh, properly mixed antifreeze in it. I wouldn't start the car again until you know you've got it all thawed.

Once done, double check for any coolant and oil leaks to make sure there are no cracks or damaged seals.

Your block will probably be ok... ive had it happen on my 4x4's. Good thing you found out though otherwise by the second day it probably would have been solid. Goodl uck.

let the car run with the cap open...

squeeze the hoses and let some stuff spill out.

top is off with straight unmixed prestone/etc

+1 i had this happen to me except... i had pure water in my whole system. if its too frozen you can put an electric heater under the car to slowly warm it up and then let it run.

Pour some boiling water in the coolant system an flush it out completely. Then refill with new coolant. This is why you dont let anyone touch your car. Especially if they dont know what the hell they are doing. He dont give a damn about it. If your engine is fucked up from this it's your problem not his. He probably thinks that shit is funny.
