95 honda civic hatch vx all stock. im putting a stock ls block with a ported polished head with a valve job and aftermarked valves and i want to get an aftermarked intake manifold. The guy at the store where im getting the valves says them by and a valve job should be about 10 more horse to the wheels. plus the port and polish. I was thinking about a skunk2 intake manifold but am open to suggestions. let me know. Im hoping to get into the 13s

probly not going to hit 13s with what you have listed.

a b16a transmission would help a lot, some cams, a good header, and a dyno tune and you would probably see 13s.

You do have more displacement, but the head is only going to flow so much, your still running stock compression. BTW if u plan on getting into the 13's or lower I would invest in a LSD diff. Your going to need it if you want a good hole shot.

--get it tuned, and go hit the track.

Yeah.. what they said. LSD/Slicks/Trans is going to do more than all that expensive head work will.

Have you thought about going turbo? Just skip the P&P, head work, and cams and spend that money on forced induction. It will give you way, way, way more HP per $ spent and will get you into the 13s. And you can go up from there.

Good info on this thread.
+1 with Phyregod. Go turbo.
The valve job guy is selling his valve job with his horse increase story. :D

i dont want to go turbo and i forgot to mention I have a itr trany going in it. I was wanting to run stock cams too. I have a nice mugen header and was hoping with a tune i can get into the 13s. what do you think?

My opinion; doing ruin the VX! Plenty of people want that, not for weight, but for the high MPG they can get.

This vx doesn't have the original motor in it, it has a 16 valve. It still has the original trany but I don't care what its worth, I just want to turn 13s with as little money as possible

why would you have all that done to the head and not run cams, its kinda pointless. you could always spray it and hit 13s.

^ +1 thats why you pnp, change valves, springs, etc... And cams. all works together = more flow of the head. I dont understand some ppl, is it HP hungry??lower ET times? to go and do whatever they can with what money they have and ask what there set up will run....

*HP goal, 1/4 time goal<--(+what your budget can handle)
*build- supporting mods, HP mods
*Tune- Ex: the right A/F ratio for your set up <--save your motor
*Run it-Take it to the track and Find out.

not downing you bro, GL with ur build

And for the record, 13's aren't that fast anymore. Why 13's anyways?

13 is pretty quick for a street car. Hell, that's very quick for a street FWD car.

If you're just trying to break into the 13s, turbo-charging the stock motor should be enough to get you there. The VX/CX are pretty light so all you would need is a little more power, traction, and seat time.

I have one for sale. (skippin the for sale thread for now)
OG VX. (minus the bumper stickers):D
