Ok my little bro is in the navy and im real proud of him and i want to do something special before he gets back from overseas. So i bought a 95 dx coupe. Im not gonna lie i dont know to much about hondas but i know what he likes. so here i am askin for help so i can get this figured out to get him set up where he wants or atleast in the general direction so he has something when he gets back. Alright so he has always told me he wants a gsr motor and if im right i think thats a b18c1? well he wants it fully built so that it is turbo friendly. so if u could let me know what i would have to do with a bone stock gsr to get it to the point where i could turbo it. Something that a honda boy would be impressed with. now remember we have a budget and im tryin to keep the whole project under 4 grand. i have already purchased car and motor so 4 grand is what i have to work with. PLEASE HELP. i want to make him happy

Gonna be really tough to buy a gsr swap and build up the bottom end for $4k. A more cost effective way would be to buy an ls swap (b18b1) and build that up. If it were me though, I'd build up a d series. You can get a z6 swap (engine + trans) for well under a thousand. Get some vitara pistons and your favorite forged rods. You should have money left over to build a sweet turbo setup.

okay when you say you already have the car and motor, i assume you have the swap motor already? is so 4k to bottom end components is doable. remember. turbo's like low compression pistons

look into the bay at the front portion of the motor to the left of the exhaust mani and down about six inches and there will be a square with the motor stamp

ok well if i was looking to fully build a b16 to be turbo friendly what would i be lookin at in price

so ill say anywhere from 250 to 350 hp. so you have the gsr motor or the b16? either way you could get a crank, rods, 9.5ish:1 pistons ~ $1300.00- nice clutch to handle the turbo ~ 4-600.00, fuel pump (example- walbro 255) and 450cc injectors ~ 700.00, chipped and tuned ecu ~ 600.00, 15-16' wheels and good tires ~ 500.00.... youre still gonna need shocks and springs and upgraded brakes and a turbo kit. with a stock head, i wouldnt push more than 7-9 lbs of boost

well i have the gsr but im startin to think to get that where he would want it to be would just be to much money. im just tryin to figure out as much as possible. ok now if i was to go with a all motor (b series) what would u recomend?

you can take the gsr and just drop money in the head, clutch/ flywheel, ignition, fuel system and only spend around 2500. if you have tools and r machanically inclined you can do all this on your own to save $.

sorry that im askin all these questions i just have so much shit i want to do but have no idea where to start. here is what i was thinking and tell me if u would agree.

-Forged Aluminum Eagle H-Beam Rods
-Compression(8:1 or 9:1) , Wiseco Pistons.
-ACL Race Bearings/Thrustwashers
-Hot Tank / Hone
-All Oem gaskets, oil pump, waterpump, and headgastket.
-ARP Headstuds
-Balanced and Micropolished Crankshaft.

oh and that would be with the gsr

i'd say that is a good start for a turbo build. sometimes you can find a combo (pistons, rods, headstuds) on ebay and save $$.

Skip the machine work on the crank. If the motor hasn't ever been starved for oil then the factory finishing is ideal. Go with the 9:1 compression. If the compression is too low the thing will be a dog when out of boost. I'd go with oem bearings instead of the ACL race bearings.

ok so im not gonna be able to turbo right out the gate so with a 9:1 compression will be ok without turbo?
