hey i got a vtec controller i want to hook up to my civic and i got the wireing all straight from apexi the only thing im not sure about is what the settings should be when i first start it up i got a mini me swap in there with p28 ecu

vtec controllers are fine, vtec should engage at 4500 rpms. you can play with it but thats where the fuel curve adjust for the bigger cam profile.

Chipping the ecu is more costly and so is tuning. i do agree with a well chipped ecu THAT COMES FROM A REPUTABLE SHOP AND IS WARRANTIED... no ebay or craigslist garbage. HONDATA IS GOLD AND WORTH EVERY PENNY

well i dont have very much dough to work with i got the controller off a freind awile back just wanna put it in cause my car runs sooooo rich just something i had lying around and wanted to use

What do you think a VTEC controller is going to do for your "running rich" problem? You're going to want something more like a V-AFC, where you can tinker with the A/F ratios...

im kinda havin the same problem, i have a 98 civic and i put a 98+ gsr type r and it hook up direct but ive been reading about the v-tec and i dont no where to hook it up at. Wireing is where im a dumbass at, and other stuff but not sayin

wiring a vtec is easy theres a write up on this site on how to do it in the refrence section.Im wireing a vtec controller

well when you buy a vtec controller it comes with directions on how to wire them up.
so the dude you got it from should have the directions.

be careful when adjusting many people think they did minor adjustment only to find out they adjusted it to point of engine destroying

OOOO... the covented GSR Type R

i have a apexi VAFC 2 vtec controller

so you can "tinker"with the A/F ratio with that

Well forgive me for criticizing, but you didn't say that it was a V-AFC. You just said it was a "VTEC controller". I wouldn't call a V-AFC a "VTEC controller", I would just call it a V-AFC.

Anyway, as the other guy said, it should have come with directions, so if you didn't get them from the seller, check back and see if they still have them. If not, hit up the Apex'i website and see if they have directions available or a customer support line...

i have air fuel gauge to help a little with tuning think i just need to lean it out a little my plugs get black and smell strong like gas

went back to apexi online and got inital set up settings had the wiring before but not start up settings plan on putting it in later this week if the snow ever stops !!!!! we got like 10 inches on top of 2 feet that fell saturday WTF ill let ou know how that works out
