My girlfriend's TDI keeps popping a CEL. 1st it was the glow plug in #3 (VW had a recall and stopped it until a re-flash is ready) So I bought steel ones to replace the Bosch ceramic plugs they came with. Got that code off but 2-3 weeks later got another CEL. It wa sthe Fuel Temp Sensor....changed it and cleaned the connector....no more light. Now (3 weeks later) she popped another code. Waiting for my friend to come by with his OBD2 reader to find out what the hell it is this time

The Jetta has a chip on it made by a company called TDC and I think thats why the FTS threw a code last time. If its the FTS again, I am taking that POS chip off. It has done nothing pop codes ever since I put it on. And the Diesel Turbo is a dog for passing on the highway anyways.....can't polish a turd (unless i spend too much...just to pop a code anyways lol).

I think we're gonna look into an Accord for her and get rid of this VW. She likes the heated seats.....I told her....used Honda....and we'll turn on the heater lmao

Keep it, its worth its weight in gold. Wanna make stupid power? Reduce EGTs and add fuel while still keeping EGTs down. In other words, the more fuel you put in, the more power it will make, until you start seeing something stupid on the exhaust gas temps.... at that point add boost to lean it out and itll cool back off.

The trans will hate you though...

.....can't polish a turd....

Mythbusters polished a turd. That term is no longer valid lol.

An Accord would be ok, about the same vintage? Newer? Older?

I really like Accords, always have. I like the '06 models (4dr) but the newer 2drs are pretty sweet. I saw one lowered a little and made me smile. But the new 4drs....not so much. Who knows.....my buddy is gonna check the code today and if its something new....I'm gonna figure out how much she owes, how much its worth and figure out if we can get rid of it. Its a GLS fully loaded. But I am already sick of \listening to the tractor idle. People trip out and tell her she is putting the wrong gas in it all the time so I got her a license plate trim that says "Chugga Chugga Diesel" with VW emblems. A lot of people in America think Diesel is for pick-ups and old ass Mercedes.

Diesel is huge in my hick town, I pump gas after school. Most of the trucks that come in are diesel, Dodge and Ford diesels are big, and I always ask a Volkswagon owner "regular or diesel" because it's a 50/50 chance.

Anyway I think the newest Accord coupe in a V6 is a sexy car.

It was the Fuel temp Sensor again.....I just changed it. The chip is inline with the fuel temp sensor so i took it off and cleared the code. I think its the chip....so no more chip.

40-45+ hwy depending on the foot and speed

thats insane!

not really when you think that before ethanol was being put in gas my protege regularly got 42-50mpg. My friend's crx got 55-60....she wouldnt let me buy it :(.

Now though, before i left the protege to die, it got 30-35mpg and that same crx was getting high 30 low 40 mpgs.

Write your congressman....Ethanol is KILLING our cars.

I've heard some say diesel is the fuel of the future. Its now super quiet, super efficient and refined. And you can run it on vegetable oil!

The misinformation on this website is becoming astounding.... especially relating to diesel.

what do you expect? its a Honda site talking about diesel.. haha

didnt you know, everyone on the internet is a genius..

Chip is OFF! No more light (at least to this point) My girl likes her car but she agreed to get rid of it if we get another code in the next year. She wants a Camry....my parents have a newer Camry and you can't see behind you at all. The lines of the car go up in the back and you have to sit up straight to back up and I'm 6'2" (no I am not a rear view mirror driver). And they look so bland inside when comparing to an Accord. But....she is keeping the tractor for now.

Its a weird car. If you pound the gas at certain rpm's....it just winds up but you can tell the trans is holding it back (AT). I hear the car trying to rev but we're still driving like a snail. But if I accelerate just right....slowly depressing the gas pedal....it moves pretty good. I'm figuring it out lol. It is not like my B16 5-speed though and makes me enjoy my Hatchie that much more.

Ya, there is no high rpm horsepower on diesels. They have amazing low range torque and that is what you need to take advantage of, don't wind them out like a B16.. lol
