Hey I have a '90 4wd wagon, and want to put a new motor in it. (preferably turbo) I know a lot about cars, but not much about hondas! I was looking at B16/B18's, will this bolt right in? The d15b2 is in it now. Will I be able to use the same tranny or what? Please give me some info! Thanks!

You can only use a b series tranny with a b16 or b18 or any b series engine. Not sure about the wagon but I think the only swaps that are direct bolt in are any engines from 88-91. Some are: dohc zc, first gen b16, b18a1, d16a6.

Depends if you want mad crazy Vtec.

no matter what engine you choose you will have to go about converting to MPFI (multi point fuel injection)

I think the wagons look pretty sweet lowered with low offset wheels. And they're different....slightly rare too (at least I haven't seen too many of them on the road)

I would go MPFI and an LS swap (with B16 Tranny)....turbo it and it'll be a beast for a refrigerator. I am not sure but aren't the mount locations the same as a civic/crx? If so....get a mount kit used and get an Si engine harness (or OBD0 B18A harness.....?)...with a jumper for an OBD1 ECU (for tunability) Modified shift linkage and I think you need to do soemthing to the hubs.....?

But I don't know enough about these cars....maybe someone else will chime in.

He would loose AWD though...unless you use a CRV tranny. :)

Build and turbo a D16Z6, put a beefy clutch in there and call it a day.

Thanks! So the d16z6 will bolt right in, and use the same tranny? Sounds good to me.

You will have to unbolt your stock engine's drivers side engine bracket from under the timing cover, and install it on the D16z6 block cuz the d16z6 uses the newer style mount there.

Good luck !

That's right....the older ones mount at a very different angle....and I forgot that they are AWD

I think this is going to be a great project, and let me tell you how awesome this real-time 4wd is! We've gotten about 20 inches of snow in cincinnati in the last week, and no wrangler/rover/fx4 has been able to keep up with me! HAHA I love it. And as far as I can tell, the d16z6 comes out of any 92-95 Civic EX? Thanks again for all the help!

do i need to tap an oil line if i have the sandwhich plate

get a b18 and a b2d adapter kit to bolt it up to a d series tranny. and a conversion harness for the computer. with all that extra torque and 4wd she will be dam quick off the line. and put the gears out of a si tranny into your 4wd one, way better acceleration.

Didn't Honda-Tuning make a build like this a few years back?
If I remember right, it was spinning all the tires..

thats what i wanna do but with an ls and crv awd tranny... would be a fun project.

i just dont really trust the awd drive train meant for 108hp running 400... lol

That would be my concern as well.

It's not listed on their site yet, but I'm fairly certain that Bisimoto is making a B2D adaptor plate now. Call them or e-mail them for more details...
