Doin work!!!
So here is the situation. I bought a 94 accord lx 4 door auto with a blown motor. Bought an overseas engine and trans (f22b sohc vtec) to replace it with. Bought a vtec obd1 ecu and the correct trans ecu. I pulled the old engine today, and notice the old engine has an external coil. The jdm engine harness has been cut up. I was planning on replacing the harness with the one from the car? How am I supposed to do that? Do I have to modify that harness? The new engine came with the dist. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

google jdm and contact a dealer and see if they have a harness for u, chance r they cn point u in the right direction

A jdm harness wont work, rhd. I just need to know if I can use the existing car harness at all. C'mon guys, all you Honda gurus and no one has had this problem? Did the 94 ex have a 2.2 vtec in it?

Bump for this for sure. I just bought a 94 accord non vtec w/ blown motor, thinking about getting f22b sohc vtec just cause its cheaper.:)

You should be able to make it work w/ the old distributor... As far as wiring throw in the old harness and take it from there, one step at a time, and do it out of the car before you put it all back in. Take some pics of anything in question, I'll try to help sounds like we'll be doing the same swap, except I'm hoping the non vtec harness will fit the vtec engine, so I can run it w/ existing ecu and etc... I'll save about 150.00 going w/ the vtec swap, I'm sure there will be wiring to be done, besides vtec which I won't be hooking up b/c I'm flipping this car.

I really don't understand what you're talking about. Did you make a typo here? You're saying that you have an Accord with a blown VTEC motor, and somehow you have a NON-VTEC harness? And you're going to do some re-wiring, but you're not going to bother hooking up the VTEC? That doesn't make sense.

It's easy as hell to hook up the VTEC, especially if you're going to be doing some re-wiring anyway. And I hope you're not going to advertise the car as having a "VTEC engine" if you're not even going to take the time to make it work right...

No typo here. Please read carefully: 94 Honda Accord LX NON VTEC w/ Blown Motor. Going to swap in F22B SOHC VTEC in place of NON VTEC BLOWN MOTOR. And yes "somehow" I do have a NON-VTEC wiring harnes because the LX didn't come with the VTEC engine/harness from the factory. But why find the VTEC ECU, run the wires, and hook it up when I'm selling the car ($$$), and besides blue book difference is only 60 bux between the LX and EX models. It's not cost effective for one, and if for some reason someone really wants to hook up the VTEC in this car then they'll have that option for them. I've already got my egsi, don't need an accord to slow me down, just to fund my shop and engine build on the b16.

As for the original thread starter here, I would like to apologize for potentially hijacking your thread. Hope the swap and conversion go well.:)

PowerdriverH22, Thanks. Thats what I needed. I couldn't find it. I just didn't know if I could use the external coil. I have everything wired up with the external coil and I am selling it and want the vtec to work. When I bought the swap I was planning on keeping it as a daily, but need the money now so its gone as soon as its running. Thanks for the input...
