I have b18b non manual and I want to make it vtec

so which head is better for it b16b or gsr and which one is chipper ?

and I have to buy the ecu ? or it is olready with the head ?

finally how much it cost if I do it all in the garage?

With all due respect here... Do you mean which one is cheaper? Please do a search and you will find prices on this everywhere.

Will the ECU come with the head? Ask the person you are buying it from....
 
thanks guys for reply but I ask because her no respect for honda only nissan and toyota lol and its very hard to know the price in 2010 ?so can you help me . my I think the price of the head and the esu is 700$ is that right ?


so the gsr is better I thought that b16b is better because the cop 10:6 but gsr is 10:1 thanks for the answer.
 
Don't swap the head. That's a big mess and you sound like you have no clue what you're doing or even talking about. A million things can go wrong with LS/VTEC. I suggest you swap the trans for a GSR trans, then turbo the motor. After that, get some cams that work well with a turbo and have the ECU tuned professionally. You will never regret having a non-VTEC motor.

The GSR is more of a street motor and the B16 is more of a top-end motor. Don't confuse B16A with B16B. B16A is much more common. B16B is a rare Civic Type R motor and you don't want it especially just for the head.

Where are you where a turbo is not allowed?

And no, a transmission unto itself doesn't generate any power, but different transmissions are geared differently, and some can allow for quicker acceleration because of the gearing...
 
GSR and B16 heads are completely different.

bolt pattern on the intake side is diffrent too, Also the GSR head has quench pads which ward off detonation. Also the gsr head is cheaper because everybody talks shit about it.

Sounds like you dont know what the hell your talking about or your living in the late 90's.

whats so hard about adding a sandwich plate befor your oil filter, unscrewing a plug in the head, running a braided stainless steel oil line, buying a LS-vtec gasket, buying LSvtec dowl pins, wiring 3 wires for vtec, and a tune?

if you want it reliable you have to rebuild it with arp rod bolts and high comp pistons and a nice new set of bearings.

stop saying things you know nothing about. if you do it right you wont have any problems.

You could make that argument, yes. But there's a reason why people build LS/VTECs aside from just the fact that they already had an LS engine. As a result of using the LS bottom end you often get more torque then you would with just a straight up GS-R...
 
so I well get a gsr head , water bump , rods bolt and Ecu. after 2 month or less

factor in all the price of parts and install, plus the tune.

i just don't see it costing sub $1000 to get it done.

No, actually they don't. They're close enough that we refer to both of them as 1.8 liters, but actually the non-VTEC engines displace about 35cc's more then a GS-R does. The rod/stroke ratio is different also...
