Craig,

First and formost welcome to the site. If you are considering purchasing a 1994 civic, you have posted in the incorrect section. The EG (Honda model code) civic (circa 1992-1995) can handle many different Honda engines (for example, D series, B series, H series and K series) as aftermarket fabricators have developed engine mounts to facilitate the swap.

Without understanding your budget and your goal/use for the car it is impossible to provide you with commentary. When I joined this site I found browsing the forums quite helpful as I was new to the swap scene and commencing a father/son project with my then 16 year old son. Coincidently that project happened to be a B16 swap into a EG sedan.

This swap was relatively easy for this first timer given the similar generation of the engine/car (OBD1) and the ease of the wiring given that one USDM civic came with the B16.

Good luck with your research and be sure to start a build thread in the EG section once you decide.

I bought a 86 si and I am having trouble figuring out what engine it has. according to the books the engine code is on the front but the only numbers that I can fine is on the back and they read BT1682. I was told that I have a 1.5 but I can't find any info on the numbers to tell me what this is. I am going to be replacing the head gasket this weekend and want to make sure I have the right stuff being the difficulty in finding parts.
thanks

All 86-87 crx's are D15A3's....unless it was swapped out with something else. If it looks old, then it is an A3
