My buddy was making a mancave out of his garage and I had his old Entertainment stand in mine. Last night I had to jump my old GMC van so we could move it over to his house. I hooked up my car to it and started revving it until I had the manifold glowing a slight red. I have a DC Sports 4-1 Header on it, and I noticed that only 2 3 and 4 were glowing with the port from one not glowing at all.

Why is that? I thought it was pretty cool as I was standing there under the hood revving it up.

Oh and so far the cheap ebay manifold gasket is holding up pretty damn well, considering its been nearly two years since I put it on there.

why would you rev it so hard that the mani glows?

not too sure why one cylinder wouldn't be getting hot enough
perhaps the other 3 are putting fuel into the header to burn post combustion
or they are running lean
might be that you only have fire on 3 cylinders too

I wasn't revving it hard. 2.5k for 3-4 minutes at a time. Like I said it took a half hour to charge up the GMC enough to even get the lights to turn on, let alone enough to get it to crank.

You never let a vehicle sit with the battery hooked up. The only thing I can think of is your number 1 cyl isnt getting as much mixture as the other cyls?

lol, wut? you should have been able to start the GMC almost immediately after hooking it up to your car.

Depending on how long it sat, it could of been 0% charged. Which would of taken alittle longer for another vehicle to bring the charge up enough to turn it over. He could of killed a cell or two in the battery too. If you ever park a vehicle for long periods of time, the vehicle will still draw energy out of the battery.

did i miss something? i dont see anything about time in the post, lol

also note, its typically not a good idea to charge a battery from dead off another cars alternator, you can cook out the regulator in your alternator or smoke the alternator all together
if its taking you 30 minutes to get the van to crank you should double check your terminal to battery connections and your jumper cable connections

I thought I'd said it took a half hour in the original post. My bad. Anyway, it was hooked battery to battery and still took a while for it to start cranking. It would just click for a while before we could even get it to start trying to turn over.

Originally turning the key in the van gave me nothing whatsoever. Not a light, not any dinging from the door. If its not giving me that, there isn't much of anything left in the battery. The van sat for 7 months from July until now.
