My gf and I want to get a new washing machine. She wants a front loader, and with some of the deals out there it is probably as good time to buy. My main concern is that it has to be second floor rate and quiet. I talked with a few local appliance shops and they keep pushing the Bosch. It would come out to be 500-550 after $400 depending on which place I went with. I have heard mixed reviews on the Bosch. I just want to make sure they are pushing it because its good, and not a money maker for them. What other brands are good, but they must be second floor rated?

Is Bosch any good? The model I am looking at is WFVC6450uc. Its been out since Aug 2009 and has been redesigned over older models. I can't find that many useful reviews on it. I keep seeing several of the same reviews showing up on a few different sites.

Thanks for the help.

the lg washers are by far the best. we have the washer and dryer with steam clean and everything they are a little more money but by far the best for your buck. you if you want i can get you all the info on these.

be careful and do the research on the front loaders. I've heard stories of the seals going bad and water leaking throught the front. Obviously not all of them, but you might want to double check the reviews if your on a budget.

consumer reports is your friend
look for their buying book in stores for a brief overview of all sorts of things
handy reference guide
or go to your local library and put in the leg work
or just pay to get it online

this is true we look all over the place and read this that and another for about 3 months.

I was thinking about the LG also but I heard they are difficult to get serviced.

I have also heard about the seals and the mold odor that can develop. I don't care if its a top or front loader, but she wants the front loader.

I will have to go to the bookstore and check the consumer reports out or stop being cheap and buy the online subscription.

We've got a fridgidaire, so far so good for a little over a year now. I've heard good things about the LG as well.

i have maytag epic series front loaders.

I would say they are quiet enough for 2nd floor (water noise is the most, followed by spin) but they are pretty damn heavy.

They were a bit pricier than it looks like you're looking to spend though. ~1k each

You have to watch the front loaders.. I've heard they rub your clothes to death, wearing them out prematurely. Also, all the fancy electronics like to spit codes and error out.

Sure, you can spend a grand a pop on nifty looking stuff, but in the end, you could have purchased a very nice top loading model for half that.. It'll clean clothes just as well, and the electrics are cave man simple.. You could run those things under water if you wanted to.

We have the whirlpool front loader, and the dryer as well. going on 5yrs now, with 0 problems. well, the light in the dryer is out, but that's it. We wash everything from Comforters, sleepingbags, to my hats in them.

We just bought Samsung matching front-loader combo's. They arrive on the 8th. The reviews and research that I did were excellent.

we have a maytag neptune series. had it for about five years and have had no problems. Its super quite

I want to look into the Samsung, the only thing the guy at Lowe's was telling me was they are noisier than they claim to be. He was pushing the Whirlpool duet on me. My gf went to a different Lowe's a few weeks ago and they were pushing the Whirlpool on her also. I am just leary after some of the reviews I read on it.

The only thing I know about my washer is she is about 5'6" and also cooks dinner. Sorry :(
