Hey wuts up i no there done been 100 post on how to build but if like to get actually feed bak on ppl who ran diff setups and ppl opinions and were i should go with my route.. I was plannin on lsv wit a b16 head but i may go with n/a since its my dd but who no. Well id like to see wut yuh guys think i should do for a daily all motor setup.. Wut i was thinkin PnP head so minor valvetrain werk done any recommended brands? With cams i head alot about bc cams and the 403s any1 can clear up y one is better ? Manifold will come later as well as hondata intake mani gasket.. Lookin around a 68mm tb.. Rc310 injectors. Now as to compression is where idk i want torque but dnt no wut setup to go for a gud dd As in piston rod combo but still run im lookin into anywhere from 170 to 200 whp any input willl be appreciated

thanks in advance

ls v-tecs are pretty ballsey themselves. v-tec heads flow better than stock ls heads. i have gsr cams in my b16a and have always heard they are one of the better oem cams to go with when doing a dd. cheaper as well. as far as valve train is concerned, i would just go with a set of oem type-r and get the head work to match. i do like skunk2's quality. i have never heard anything negative about them nor do i have any complaints about the parts i have from them now. i have ctr pistons with a 1mm toda head gasket and i am running 11.3:1 on my dd crx. so maybe you could look into itr pistons. i also have the hondata intake gasket and i could almost feel the difference in the seat. so i would recomend it. just my .02

ls vtec will be more worth your time.

trust me, i have a built/boosted ls and i wish i would have gone ls vtec. i am actually looking to go ls vtec.
even with a decent PnP, cams, valvetrain, and intake manifold, the LS BARELY outflows a stock VTEC head.

your only option if you want to stay non vtec is to get a P8R cylinder head. came off of the jdm b20 engines. valve size is the same as a vtec head (33 mm i believe) and the ports are the same size as well. however; they are hard to find, and you will have to resleeve and go 84mm bore in order to use the head properly with no issues. 84mm chamber on a 81mm bore block is not a good idea. head gasket will burn and youre screwed from there.

Well da reason i was over lookin lsv is cuz budget is alil tight but i did see a couple heads pretty decent price jus i no it will take me long but rather longer and get wut i wa t den waste ma time and jus want more.. So wit a lsv head say b16 and gsr cams tha itr cams wouldnt fit flush on ma ls rods or would they and will i have to mill head or get a thicker gasket and tha bore will change or still be 81mm ?

B20's use 82mm bore head gaskets just like the LS.

look at my build, might just be what your looking for. High comp LS econo build.

Ok yea thas pretty much wut i was lookin at but with tha itr pistons im still wonderin would any honing or milling need to be done like do those pistons fit tha rods fine or do tha rods need to be machined alil ?

I've read that you can take the ITRrod/LS piston combo to machinist and they clip a portion of the piston to work with an LS rod (google around and you can read the posts too) You're better off with P30 pistons (get forged replicas from a variety of companies) in an LS block and shot peen'd LS rods. They bolt right on. You can get the re-build size pistons and have a machinist hone the block. You can get decent driveable hp with a turbo on it.

Lots of guys here know more about turbo then I do but I would think you could get close to 300whp (give or take) "safely" on that bottom end (depending on set up and weight of your foot lol)

if you buy the nippon pistons you wont need to machine the pistons or rods on ITR pistons. now if your gona run ctr pistons you need to mill the piston or rod 1mm o each side.

I would always go .5 mm or 1mm oversized piston to clean up the walls and make sure your bore is true.

So wit tha wut will ma comp ratio be around and like there is no clearence problems

B20's use the same head gasket as a LS both same part number and both 82mm bore headgasket. now the LS engine has 81mm bore and the B20 engine has a 84mm bore but both use 82mm headgaket.

Yea well im jus planning to stay with tha oem bore of 81mm so im thinkin bout goin with tha p30s im told they direct fit and ill get 11:1 compression so i think thas wuh ima do thanks for da info if im wrong lmk and i was also told to change ma rod bolts and valvetrain so i can rev high safely is this tru ?

Im jus tryin to avoid machine shops for rite now prob not tha best idea

its very hard to make a vtec and need alot of work and if you make a little mistake that will be a problem. if you don't know alot about vtec like my lol its better to get a gsr engine with out tranny its about 1400 $ and put it in your ls. but if you want to do it ask magana559 he make some ls vtec and he is a good man lol.

yea nah well i think i figured out tha route im goin thanks for all da imput guys maybe bak to ask about other things in da near future
