pretty bad ass man. I've wanted a boa or python for a long time, but my wife just won't go for it.

My mom is the same way if they are out, she wont even come in my room.

Oh nice! I like the normals! looks like they are doing great.

I would bump humidity to about 85% when in shed, just makes things a lot better for them.

Also terracotta pots make great hides that are less than 6 bux a pop.

been keeping these for about 4 years or so.

Yeah I always bump the humidity when they get ready to shed, I was looking around at some other inclosures and would relly like to do a "planted" setup.

I never got into the whole reptile thing... snakes/iguanas/etc... i dunno. never really seemed like pet's to me.

Chyeah, I'll stick with cats. They won't try to eat my arm when I'm sleeping.

looks good..i just recently picked up a crested gecko..fucker looks mean..looks like a cross between a gator and a snake..with spikes on its head..

I did that for a year or so, I stopped because they kept smashing the plants and needed UVB bulbs, Got really expensive really fast. Im not much of a bulb person, I use under tank heaters, 11watts VS 100Watts for a more even heat.....just cant beat that. Also you dont have to replace a UTH every 4 months.

A lot of people dont see em as pets. but they are better than having a dog or cat.

you have to feed a cat every day VS once a week with the snakes. Plus cats plan on killing you every night....they just need to figure out how to open a door with a gun/knife in their paw.

I hear they are super easy to car for, how true is that?

eeek, snakes!!! gives me the eeby jeeby's

Yeah that was really my only concern was finding some that looked good and were the right size that they wouldnt destroy, my Anole tank is planted but they are a little easier on the vegitation. I wouldnt mind breeding them if the little one is even a male. Athena I know for sure is, just havent taken Kaa to the vet to be probed yet, and even so dont you think the size/age difference would be a bit of a factor?

They may be planning it, but it won't happen. Its not too hard to drop some food into a bowl every day.

The thing with cats is that I hate the litter box being in the house. I don't care how often you clean it, you can still tell someone who has a cat in the house.

I had an outdoor cat when I was a kid and that was great. My wife had 2 cats when we met and that wasn't so great. Even with one of those automatic scooping boxes. I do like cats, I just prefer them in someone else's house. I'll take an 80+ pound dog every day of the week.

As far as the snakes, how much does one of these things cost? I've always been interested, I just never really took the time to look into it.

cage, bulbs, food, plants, electricity, etc... as with any pet owning a snake adds up fast.

yessir..real easy..
i have 1 gecko in a 5 gallin tank..ill post pix later..its got a water bowl,food bowl,the bedding,a stick to climb on.some fake greenery,and i put a cardboard hut type deal..just keep it moist in the tank..they like room temp..about 70 degrees..
crickts 3 nights a week and fruit baby food the others..
ive got a red heating lamp on mine but they do not even need that..natural light is fine or light from a source somewhere in the room works..

i used to have a couple of iguanas.. they were babies though.. about 13 inches long w/ tail

cage = $100 MAX (40 gal tank or 32qt starilite tub will do for a adult) only cage you will need.

Under tank heater(bulbs suck!) = $45 every 1-2 years.

plastic plants (if you want em) = $10

substrate = $30 a year.

food = $3-5 a week

and the ball python its self is about 30 bucks for a normal

not bad if you ask me.

I have had 8 BP in my apartment at once and the light bill was always the same.
