I will never use mobil1 ever again, that stuff became super thick and black with in 3k miles with a K&N oil filter.

I use royal purple 5w30 with k&n filters.

before the purple stuff I would use dino oil castrol with a fram filter.

roylal nurpal and k & n bishes!!!!!!!

Add used oil to my EG as needed, it just burns it any ways so who cares? And I dont hink the filter has been changed 2000, so my opinion doesnt count here. :D

It depends on how many miles I have on my vehicle. In my old 96 coupe I just used regular old valvoline/castrol/quaker state 5w30 because it had higher mileage on it with a oem filter. On my 08 Impala I am using valvoline fully synthetic for now with an OEM filter. From what I have heard/read/have been told synthetic has smaller molecules so they tend to find any worn spots quicker in older engines which may explained why my civic burned more oil with synthetic in it.

agreed....kinda
i only use hamp. not because i want to be super jdm tyte yo but because i dislike honeywell products and toyo roki makes a higher quality unit. also if you buy them in bulk, they arent much more expensive than oem blue honeywell filters.

anyone tried the short hamp filters? i hear they are great for a higher revving honda that changes oil regularly.

I use Wix or Purolater Premium filters with Rotella T 5w-40 synthetic. I'm about to change the filter in my Civic to a Canton filter though.

Oil, many studies have shown, is all pretty much the same at 3000 miles. Yes, there are some slight variances but all will protect an engine to 3k. Its after 5 or 6k where the good oils start to really shine. My oil never makes it to 5 or 6k.

For my bike, its had OEM filters and Mobil 1 from the start. Changed more often than a new born's diaper. I don't mess around with the bike motor.

The jeep gets Castrol dino and Fram tough guards. Purchased with 50k, It has 150k on it now, and still purrs like a kitten.

Element gets Frams and Castrol. But only because I don't have a dealership close.. I don't stockpile element filters like I do bike filters. I suppose I should start.

CRX gets mobil 1 synthetic and mobil 1 filters. Has a knock. Fucking mystery motor.

After 15 years of changing my own oil and using 95% Castrol dino and Fram filters, I've decided they just aren't good enough. I've torn down motors that haven't seen anything else in 100k miles, and they had sludge and crap built up in them. Its time to find something better. But Until then, I have yet to have a catastrophic failure due to either one. I lable them "Good enough".

Mobil 1 with mobil 1 filters is where its at, from reading around.. But I can't really say one way or the other, because I haven't used it much. The bike is shiny new inside. but it is a shiny new bike, so that doesn't really count.

yes if its a new oem car then use oem everything........but if its a 20 year old honda thats been moded and rebuilt and turbo'd and all that other stuff we do to our beloved hondas than oem just wont cut it............ all of this is......IMO.
