Hey guys, I'm looking around for a new car, and I wanted to see if anyone here has had experience with Scion, or actually owned a Tc. Ill most likely end up buying a brand new one, but I just wanted to hear everyone's opinions first. Thanks guys.

They're not bad but I'd never touch a new one. Buy used and save a shitload of money.

The only thing I dislike about the tc is they do put off a gay vibe. It really is a girls car.

only problem i had with the tc was that it was a bit tight for me.. thats why i bought an xB hehe

We have an xB. The tC has a lot of modding potential- but just look at the specs. Realistically it's a heavy coupe (3000lb+) built with a Camry 2.4L engine in it. Not a bad car for the price honestly.

Yeah I went out to the site and "built" my Tc, and got a nicely equipped car for around 21K, which is about what I want to spend.

And I guess I can see where you get the "gay" thing from but I'm not to worried about it.

Can't do the Speed3 I've already looked and insurance is way to high, and the TL is up there on insurance cost...

There's no way a TL is higher cost then a Tc to insure, if anything it should be near each other.

I bet my Merc C350 is cheaper to insure then a Tc

If a TL is higher then the Tc then you need to shop around for insurance.

My Trailblazer cost more to insure then my C350, or TL.

I wouldn't get a Tc either. The design looks dated to me for a new car. Not to mention I'm willing to bet it's drivers ate >65% female. I'm with Jeffie - go for something a little more masculine and mature. Used TL or G35 fits the bill.

I had a 2005 Scion TC 6spd, was fun little car, good price for what you get, more to insure then my Mercedes that i traded it in for. It's a target car for cops to pull over. i would stay clear away from it. I had a former post on this. 3 tickets in my scion with in months, 0 tickets in my corvette in 3 years.

FYI

Vehicles with highest percentage of violations
  • Hummer H2/H3 SUV 46%
  • Scion tC Coupe 46%
  • Scion XB Station Wagon 40%
  • Mercedes Benz CLK63 AMG Coupe 40%
  • Toyota Solara Coupe 30%
  • Mercedes Benz CLS63 AMG Coupe 28%
  • Scion XA Hatchback 28%
  • Subaru Outback Station Wagon 27%
  • Audi A4 Sedan 26%
  • Toyota Matrix Hatchback 26%

for $20k, i would rather have a new civic si....

but then again, when i was 19, i wouldn't consider taking on 20k in debt. especially for a car.

save some money and take some free college classes. take advantage of the military. don't go out and get stuck into a career because you have a ton of debt at a young age.

I'm actually a Junior in College right now lol, and this isn't going to be all of my money either, I'm still putting around 6500 in savings.

And on the insurance thing, I just called USAA and this is the quote.

2010 Scion TC - full coverage- $145.16 a month
2010 Honda Civic - Full coverage 158.32 a month
2008 Acura TL - Full coverage - $212.34 a month
2008 Mazdaspeed3 - full coverage- $286.54 a month

just sayin....

Haha, nah I'm passing on the civic, I'm just not a fan of them...

It also depends on how you drive and where you drive probably, considering I won't be in a big city most of the time, and if I'm ever on a highway its a US highway where there might be a state trooper every 60 miles or so I should be alright. I'm usually a good driver that doesn't speed and I mind the traffic laws pretty well, so I'm not to worried about the ticket side...
