Well, as I promised I went and test drove a 2010 Kia Forte Koup SX today, and I have to say I'm extremely impressed. Just seeing the car in person blew my mind.

Those are the two I drove, the black on is a 6 speed manual, and the blue on is the 5 speed automatic.

Exterior:

The outside is slick and smooth, and the body lines really run together well. The SX model has the gloss black accents in the front of the car as well as foglights, and the SX's most commonly have a sunroof with the "tilt" option. The headlights were aggressive looking but fit perfectly with the cars styling, and the rear "wrap-around" taillights makes the back end look great. The rear end of the car also has the "aerodynamic spoiler" so to speak on the bottom of the rear bumper with the double piped exhaust leading out of the right side.

Interior:
I was really impressed once I opened the door and sat inside, it is ridiculously big for a coupe and definitely leaves the people of front with a LOT of wiggle room. Most coupes don't have the same luxury in the back seat, however, the Koup does. I am 5'10, 175 pounds, average size guy, and I sat in the back seat, with the front seat pushed all the way back and even tilted back a little and I STILL had quite a bit of leg room, which I definitely liked. The truck was huge for a car that size and was easy to put things into and to get things out. The stereo that comes standard has the illuminated 6-speaker system that sounds like its top of the line, and it even comes with 3 free months of XM, which is pretty cool, along with its aux. input, and USB Input. The dash is made out of really good quality vinyl it seemed like and the steering wheel and shift knob where wrapped with leather. The steering wheel has the volume/radio control on the left side, and the cruise control on the right side. AND, the bluetooth connectivity buttons that come standard are on the lower portion of the steering wheel.

Road Test:
I pulled out onto the access road right outside the dealership and right away the dealer told me to step on it, so I did. The 6 speed has an awesome clutch that engages and disengages with no "catching" and the automatic is really smooth when shifting gears under high rpm's. In the automatic they have the "tip-tronic" transmission where you can shift it your self so I floored it and went through the gears quickly and got up to 60-70 going uphill relatively quick. I still like the 6 speed more because it seem to almost give it a little more power with under heavy acceleration. Keep in mind this is the SX model with the 2.4L engine in it, that is rated at 173HP and 168 lb/ft torque. Which you can definitely tell that it has a lot of torque because it's so light.

Suspension:
The suspension in both the 6 speed manual and 5 speed automatic are the same, and let me tell you it is top of the line suspension, or so it feels. Taking corners at an above average speed didn't even phase the car, and the steering felt extremely solid. The suspension is extremely stiff for Kia, seeing as how everything else they have rides like its floating on a cloud, but it was perfect for the Koup and gave the car the suspension needed for a fun and enjoyable ride.

So, overall, Kia has created one of the best 2 door cars on the market right now for its price range (17K-20K) and in my honest opinion it beats out Scion, Honda and Toyota in quality and performance.

So yes, I will be buying one, it's either going to be black or blue, and it will be a 6 speed manual, for my quoted price of $18,090. Just need to figure out when, and get financing lined up.

Thanks for reading!

19 years old
for my quoted price of $18,090

just gonna throw this out there, but are you sure you want to jump into a monthly payment so soon?
how many years are you gonna be paying on this thing?
this is like getting married at 19, you think thats the only pussy you wanna drive for the next few years?

what else have you test drove to form you opinion that the kia is the best 2 door?

2009 Civic, and Civic SI
2010 Scion Tc
2009 Pontiac G5 and G8
2009 Chevy Cobalt
2010 Toyota Corolla

And yeah monthly payments are fine, itll probably be 5 or 6 years loan, still working on the financing part. I do have a set income for the next 8 years that can only go up so I'm not to worried about payments...

you'd be better off hitting your 5K mark in a ROTH IRA for the next 8 years
would be about a million or more by retirement, i believe is the estimate going around now.

5 or 6 years on a 18k car is a mistake
ask them how much interest you'll be paying back over the term of the loan
and remember, you need to carry full insurance coverage as long as a bank has an interest in the car
if you get this car dont forget gap coverage on your insurance
you're gonna over your head on that loan after the first 6 months.
car will be worth 14-15 and you'll have paid 1000 towards principal

Trust me everything has been thought out, and I'm putting a decent size down payment on it so itll be alright.

why 5-6 years if you have a decent down payment?
i'm not trying to :deadhorse:
i just want you to think about this
i see you're from texas, so i'll give you a bit of time

Har har, Right now I'm in school for atleast another year, so I wanted low payments around 200 bucks a month, just because its a 5 - 6 year loan doesn't mean itll take that long ill probably pay it off in 2 - 3

i think he is just referring to being locked into a new car at such a young age. the same question i asked in the previous thread.

probably 95% of members on here paid cash for a car when they were 19. get something cheap, reliable, and clean. sell it for the exact amount you paid for it. i personally don't see much use in buying a new car at 19.

graduate, save your money, and buy a real car in 3 years. but it sounds like you have a ton of discretionary income. when i was in college, i couldn't afford $350/month total for a new car and insurance. i was struggling to make ends meet.

I have the income to get a car for once that I actually like, and having to drive 6 hours to where I have drill once a month in a jeep isn't going to happen so I figured I would go out and get a car that is good on gas mileage and would be fun to drive as long as it was within my budget, and te Koup is.

Shit, I was paying almost 200 bones a month just for liability insurance when i was 19.

I got a quote for 121.36 today for the forte Koup, so 321 a month approx. for a new car that will save me even more in gas, I'm definitely thinking that fits in my budget just fine.

haha that it would, and I figure, the thing gets 33mpg on the highway, so why not go test drive it and see, and it definitely blew my mind.

VW = expensive ass parts down the road, that is a no-go for me.

and they can't touch Kia's warranty,

10year/100,000 miles?
