So when i bought my car, i called Nationwide and setup an account. they took my name and info, and faxed over the required paperwork to the dealer. i filled it out, signed everything i had to and faxed it back. shortly after i called them to verify that they had everything they needed, and they confirmed.

about a month goes by and they send me some paper work saying that they didnt have the driver exclusion forms. i signed these at the dealer so i had no idea why they were asking for them again. a few days later they called me and left a message saying that they needed the forms signed and returned by March 27th or my policy would be canceled.

i sent in the forms and called them the next day (this was on March 10th). i asked why they needed the forms again, why i had to sign them in the first place, and what happened to the forms i signed over a month ago when i bought the car. the lady apologized for the inconvenience, etc, and thanked me for mailing the forms to them anyway a second time.

now today i get a letter. its a pro-rated refund check of about 650 dollars from nationwide saying my policy has been canceled. what the fuck? what happened to the 27th? the check was dated 3/11. the day after i talked to them on the phone. someone is going to get an earful tomorrow. they better be able to fix this...

well i had lots of discounts (my parents have some policies with them) so moving to a new company is just going to cost me more money. i had my insurance paid through July. im not happy now.

and on an unrelated note, i STILL havent received my tax return from the state of WV. i filed Fed and WV at the same time, set them both up for direct deposit to the same account. i filed on Feb. 7th. the return was accepted by WV on Feb. 10th. the Fed return only took like a week...

oh, and i got a speeding ticket last week. (i was speeding, just unlucky)

not having a good month...

WV has tax? I figured everyone was on their own.

Shop around anyway. Now that you're 25, you'll be suprised what you might find.

I saved $1000 a year by leaving progressive for peerless.

what about south carolina? do they have tax? i worked there last year for a few months but i never asked about the tax shit. and i'm going back in a few weeks so i gotta figure that shit out...forgot about it till i read this thread. thanks alot. they already spent our tax dollars on those new police cars. idk why i'm even pissed off about that...its not even my personal money

NY has halted sending out tax refunds to get through their cash crunch
like cali did last year

i imagine a lot of state are doing the same shit

Don't do 1-800-insurance

open your phone book and call an independent agent

I was one for three years and after working within the insurance industry I can tell you that I will never go back to internet/phone insurance. A good agent will take your info, maintain your file as a client and shop it for you. They can handle company issues for you, with some input from yourself obviously, and as retention rates are falling most give great service because they are trying to keep every customer.

I pay $1,000 yr for 100/300/100 libability on a teggy and full coverage on my 07 tacoma

I don't know if it's and independent agent or not. I don't interact with nationwide directly. I call a company called Aufarth. And I guess they are underwritten by nationwide. I dunno.

Anyway, I called them. They said that my policy was not canceled, and that the underwriter must have sent it out pre maturely. She said my policy was active, and that I just have a balance fore the amount they refunded me due in April. She said to just deposit the check and make a payment for the same amount. A little annoying but whatever. I'm good.

Check out State Farm.. They really are great people. At least my agent is.. He isn't the cheapest insurance agent in existence, but He is the very best I've ever dealt with. They are service focused, first and foremost. And not like mc donalds fuck up your order and tell you to have a nice day service.. They hit you up all the time, to save you money. I get calls and letters all the time telling me they found another discount or something, saving me more money. I don't even have to ask 'em to check.

+1 on statefarm, not the cheapest but great service, plus if you have a motorcycle NO ONE can touch their rates.

+2 I went from $360 a month on the S2k to $180 by switching from Geico to state farm.
I got a friend who works at a body shop and he says State Farm also is the only company that will shell out the money to get your car fixed as close to OEM as possible and they also send out someone to inspect the car before you/the customer can pick it up. He says Progressive, Geico, and Allstate are the cheapest, in terms of parts they will buy for your car to be fixed.

I guess I'm different. I went from 360/mo to 240 switching from geico to statefarm after my first 6mos owning my car.

I also had a record.

Geico is the absolute worst insurance company ever. They are NOT the cheapest, have terrible customer service, are shitty about paying out for claims, will not try to defend you against judgements made by other insurance companies, and suck at paying body shops for repairs. They just suck.

:werd:

Geico driver hit my car while it was parked. 3 months of harassing them every damn day before they coughed up the $$.

High Point here. Switched from Allstate. Technically it's my parents' policy, but I'm still saving a lot of money.

glad i dont have geico lol. i have state farm on the crx, im not so mad anymore, my policy isnt actually canceled, just didnt want to have a lapse of coverage on my record. just a little annoying.

kristen has geico, and the nickname crash...

they have been pretty good with her. progressive has been great with me, then again i dont have any accidents in the last few years but hover on losing my license due to stupid MA emissions laws.
