hey my boy just installed hytek rep headers got some exhaust work done at a muffler shop he eliminated the cat put a testpipe in its place put a vibrant exhaust on the muffler shop welded the test pipe shut and put a small resonator in and the car still has a raspy sound to it at like 1000rpm to 3k rpm like it sounds like the exhaust has a leak some where but as i said all piping and everything is brand new and ideas greatly apreciated thanks in advance..... oh and before all the work was done it still had the same sound....

Heat wrap the ENTIRE thing.
But yea, can style exhaust 99% of the time will have that raspy sound. Theres not much you can do other than putting an insert in the can.

put the fucking cat back on.
i guarantee it will cure the raspiness.

as soon as i read the title, i knew the cat was taken off.

I have no cat and my car isn't raspy. It has the stock muffler on it though

IMO thats one of the best setups. Upgraded piping, high flow cat (if any) or at least a reonator, and OEM style muffler.

Same gains, deeper note you can actually live with. And its stealthy too!

nah it isnt a can type muffler its oval type and even as i said before we even did any work it was still sounding raspy... i know plenty of people with out cats and there cars sound great no rasp deep note and all.. and he got the black muffler so it looks stealthy too i got the same set up on my car but no rasp idk whats wrong with his car.. could it be something lose and the bolts not having washers be leaking air idk im jus looking for possible answers and as for putting the cat bak on its not ganna happen he dont want a cat...

but honestly its alil weird like outside the car it sounds great no rasp nothing its inside the cabin where you hear the raspy sound :-/

You could just get a high flow cat, like a magnaflow or something. It might be an exhaust leak.

honestly thas what it sounds like an exhaust leak but evrything is new and sealed up so idk where it could be

well yea i forgot to metion that where the test pipe connects to the headers like it scrappes and looks like the flang is being pushed back idk if this is the problem i jus seen this right now.. i hope thts the problem

no lie putting a glass pack in place of a cat will help ALOT!

i'v used this on a couple Honda's and a Nissan 300zx.

i have heard alot of people talking about glaspackz is that the same thing as a resonator though?

Is it an ebay test pipe? If so its going to leak. I've had my fair share of hassles with those things.
