i just got this car it is a 91 civix si hatchback it came with the b18 non v tec with an ls 5 speed trany. the motor actualy it was the reson i bought it , it runs purty good keeps up with the gsr's but i was wondering what could i do to make it quicker i want to keep it all motor high compresion thaks,...

ps im also looking for some useful info on da ls vtec swaps
 
^^ May also consider swapping to a b16,GSR, or type-r trans as well it will help. What's your budget? reason I ask is that you may be able to turbo the car for the same price as an LS-V done the right way but you will yield more power with turbo...
 
i would keep that engine since this is why u bought the car.. get some vtech killer cams underdrive crank pully and port n polish ur head. maybe bigger injectors.. tht will help some prolly a gain of 15 hp maybe even more..
 
In Cali head swap are illegal, just build the motor up I.e. Rebuild it for higher comp etc.. Or just drop a gsr/b16 in I woul recomend the gsr over the b16

I agree with red91efhatch, swapping the tranny would be a good idea for quicker acceleration. It's also much easier to do then rebuilding a motor.

thanks for the input .. also i read about a guy who also has the ls trnny but insted of swaping it he changed the gear ratios frm other b series trannys ? how much would that cost me and witch would be best?

op: as far as transmissions go what people sometimes do is take a gsr/b16/etc trans and swap in a ls 5th gear.

and you'll either want to ls-vtec and/or boost it as it is if you want to get some power out of it.

i have done some reading and i decided even tho the ls/vtec has some potencial. i wanna keep the stock head and take it to a machine shop to do some work on the head and mabe the crank balenced while im at it
