We have an existing customer that purchased a larger building down south, and I did all the wiring yada yada. Well the swing rack they bought was 3 foot wide by 4 foot tall by 4 foot long.
I had mounted the phone system at the very top of the rack, and put the connecting cords on two 32 port patch panels just below it. Everything went just fine.
Today I went down to start working on putting all the wiring on it. I get everything set up, a knife, diagonal cutters, punch tool, my DP and I have my zune blaring some Tool.
The first f'ing cat 3 I punched down I got half way through it and the entire goddamn swing rack comes flying off the wall mount. I'm talking the 20 pound swing portion, the 10 pound phone system. Everything.
Sitting up on the ladder I magically managed to grab it as it went down with my left hand, got a good hold on it but the system being on the top made it top heavy, so it kept going until I grabbed it with my right arm and kept it from going down. In the process it swung backwards and the bottom swung out from me. It pulled me down off the ladder, landing on my feet and finally getting it balanced enough to keep it from going any further.
I managed to save it, only problem is when the bottom swung out it stuck my wrist in between the swing mount, the phone system and the patch panels so I twisted the shit out of my wrist and scraped up my palm.
What a great way to start a damn weekend. lol
Here's some of what I got accomplished today at least, after I took these pictures I managed to get the blue cat5's about 1/3rd of the way done, then I couldn't take bending my wrist anymore to push them into the mounts to punch them down so I called it quits for today.
