Good brand of headers

DC is good. Get it coated or it will rust pretty quick though. I have a Hytech Replica. Its awesome but very expensive.

A 4-1 merges all four of the primaries at one time. Theyre cheaper and more compact but dont flow as well as a 4-2-1.

4-2-1 headers first merge two primaries together as a first step, and then the newly created two pipes into one after. They flow a lot better as there is less of a bottleneck, but cost more due to the amount of pipe and bends it takes to make them.

4-1's are not more compact than 4-2-1s, especially "race" headers with long primaries that go under the oil pan(you'll see much more scraped/dented 4-1 headers since they also hang low). As far as flow goes, it's all in the design(sizing, length, etc). 4-1s are also more common in race applications, but 4-2-1s can still work very well.

I have a Bisimoto header, it's cheap considering similar designs cost around $1000 and it's custom catered to your engine(primary length I believe is the only thing changed).

Im talking more the older style that look about the smae length as a stock manifold. not like the one I posted. My Hytech hangs just as low as what youre talking about. Look how far the primaries run before the first merge.

DC headers are allright, but honestly if you're looking at DC, I'd consider Megan Racing as well. Their headers are essentially copies of DC designs for about half the price. I've had a Megan header on my Integra for about 3 years now and it's held up great...

OP: Whats you motor?

I've had replica DC's and DC's. My replica lasted about 6 years before the welds became weak and carbon build up showed up around the welded of two runners. DC headers are usually bashed by many Honda Enthusiasts . I currently have a 4-1 and had a 4-2-1 replica before. The 4-1 is suppose to be better top end but 4-2-1 is suppose to have better mid range (this is based on other's opinions and experience b/c I didn't dyno the difference)

For my B16.....I would not get a Hytech Replica but would love a Toda replica. Many people think its the best for B16's/ Now a B18.....I would run a hytech in a minute.

But I'm in CA and I can wish and dream about all the headers in the world but DC is CARB exempt and thats what I need to keep Officer Hate-A-Tuner off my back (and the smog guys)

check these out... https://hondaswap.com/vendor-classifieds/private-label-mfg-power-driven-headers-h-b-k-series-255706/

they make good power on b series i know for sure. there is a guy selling them on HT in addition to this guy here, and there are a lot of dyno results in the HT thread. i have these on my car and the fit was great. cant say how much they made on the dyno (never dynoed with previous header) but the seat of the pants feel was noticeable, particularly in the midrange. fit and finish was good too.

Is Megan Racing Headers 50 state legal? I need it for smog purposes. Are the carb# located on the headers? Since most aftermarket headers don't have the carb# on it.

I also live in cali and the smog places are strict on headers. Is the DC header the only header legal in cali?

I hear the best CARB Legal header available is the Comptech header. Greddy has a CARB legal header as well but I think they discontinued it. Same goes for Edelbrock, IIRC.

Pace setter make a fairly inexpensive pair... Bosal arn't to to bad ether... idk about smog legal u would need to look just some others lol

Yeah, I've personally seen the cheapo $50 E-Bay replicas crack. I've never seen a Megan header crack though. Mine's been on my car for about 3 years now, so Megan I think is pretty decent for the price...

Ooooo, yeah, I don't know about that. I'll look into it for you...

I think he meant that he has a Hytech, which is a Toda replica. Not that he has a replica of a Hytech header. Hytech are already replicas, therefore he called it a Hytech replica.

Toda/Hytech is the best for B, except maybe those bisimoto ones.

Hytech is not a toda replica....at least to my knowledge.

Comptech is discontinued too.....eff. I called them (they're in Sacramento now) and they were bought out about 3 years ago and the new owners are race team only and do not manufacture headers anymore......so that sucks. I heard it was a good header. JDM ITR is a good option too but you need a 2.5" cat and exhaust....or exhaust that tappers down to 2.25" as it exits (someone stated that it can be benifitial to tapper it down but I do not know first hand) But the JDM ITR header also is longer then USDM Manifolds and other various headers like DC
