I wonder how this will stack up VS the Ipad.

A dvd drive would add way too much thickness to a tablet. Streaming Media>Digital Media>Physical Media. You're thinking too 1998, optical drives suck.i want a pad i can write on.
oh, and one with a dvd drive. i know they can do it, they just need incentives. and it wouldn't make it too thick, just have a slide drive or whatever it's called. don't do the whole pop out drawer.

plus you have to pay for them. so $9.99 and shitty movie selection leads to bad streaming. That's why the tablet has wifi/cell connectivity. You download straight from a streaming service. One of the problems is, all the streaming services suck.
I guess I don't have a huge dvd collection to consider. All my stored media is digital, so that makes it more versatile.
Rip all your dvd's to .iso files and setup a HTPC. Then, never buy physical media ever again.i have a ton of dvd's. like i said, i would like to use a tablet for travel. movies and pictures would be great. if that is too ahrd to do, it's worthless to me.

Well, ya you need a computer hooked to your tv. Even wireless HDMI is "hooking a computer to your TV" if not directly. But this thread isn't about HTPC's or MythTV setups.so my 250 dvds would need an external. i would however like a hard drive to store them to. ideally i would have my dvds on a hard drive and i could just watch them on my tv. dont' know what i need for that though. not without having a computer hooked to the tv.
Where the hell is this thing.....
