I am new to this please help. I have a 97 civic that I bought, the motor was a b20 (unknown) and I put in a B20Z from a 2000 CRV. The ECU is for a 94 Integra LS and I am having problems with the engine missing, surging and running like crap. What ECU do I need? Is it possible it may be more than the ECU? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.:confused:
 
actually no. the check engine light has come on once but went right back off. i have been doing some research and thought maybe a distributor from a 94 integra ls would help solve my problem but im not sure and any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Yes, the B20 you're using is an OBD2 engine. In order to run an OBD2 engine in an OBD1 car, then you either need a conversion harness, or you need to run OBD1 accessories...
 
It is an OBD2 car but the computer is a 94 integra ls OBD1. someone used an adapter to plug into the OBD1
 
I don't think you need that unless someone wired the motor for OBD1. Your Civic is OBD2, try a OBD2 Integra LS ECU, should be a P75.
 
But I thought it was okay to run a jumper harness and a OBD1 ECU on an OBD2 car? Or does it have to be socketed and tuned? But if you can get a hold of a OBD2 P75....do it
 
i have a p75 ecu but it has been frankensteined to work its hooked up to the original ecu harness and indivually spliced to the ls ECU. im thinkin it needs a tune. someone wrote 94 integra ls on the ECU but it comes up as a P75. im pretty sure if i tune it or throw an ls distributor on it i should be alright. but any other suggestions would be beyond helpful thank you very much for everyone who has helped so far
 
P75 can be OBD2 or OBD1. has the ECU been socketed? I know now that if it is chipped but not socketed then it has a base map that is not for your car....this could be your problem. If it is socketed....then you can have a new chip for your set up installed. If its a single chip that has been sodered in..... I have read that you can cut J1 inside the ECU and disable the chip. Which would make it a LS ECU again rather then some LS/VTEC base map.
 
i know i sound retarded but what is socketed? :/ im new to this i wanted to get into it and figured i would start somewhere and work up
 
Socked means there is a zif socket type device soldered to the mother board in your ECU that will allow for you to place different chips in so you can run better tunes or base maps.
 
my ecu is not socketed its sautered to the board i drove it today and had no problems i even got into it a little bit and it acted fine i was at 110 in 4th at about 4800 and it didnt even seem to have a problem so idk lol this car must be possessed
 
d15b throw our bearing

i have a d15b and i believe it has a d16z6 tranny are the throw out bearings the same or are they different cause i put a d15b throwout bearing in and i was able to put it in gear without the clutch engaged
