well a week ago or so, i seen a fuel mileage post somewhere on one of these forums about fuel mileage. i took a trip to las vegas this weekend with a few of my cars getting us there. i was surprised to see my 1991 accord LX make the 287 mile trip (one way) on half a tank there and half a tank back. not bad for an all stock motor with 175000 miles on it in my opinion. whats your opinions?

how many miles did you get on the other half lol....45?

those cars are notorious for not being very accurate. i did roughly the same had like 267 at half tank but finished just over 400 miles. mine has 210k

did you calculate the mpg?

havent calculated yet but i do have all the info except the stock fuel tank capacity. i have it on my data base but i dont feel like doing it this second LOL. i do think the stuff cold be inaccurate because around town i get like 700 miles per tank. the gills, weight, ac use, cross winds ant tire pressure could have affected my mileage negatively but i still think it could be ok.

Best way to tell isnt by tank capacity, but by how much fuel you have to pump to return it to a full tank. Ill get a 100 miles in the Si before the needle even moves and only end up getting 300-400 miles out of the tank.

yeah the 88 prelude SI took almost a full tank to get there but we drove faster going and traffic sucked coming back and we drove slower and only used about half tank coming back. i do know that the prelude is due for a tune up but i'll most likely just rebuild the motor. new pistons, rings, rods, bearings, block machining, etc.

I averaged about 85mph on the trip from Chicago to Columbus and averaged about 30mpg. Not bad for the Si.

Thats good MPG's! I get about 30mpg going 70. but then again the b16 is in the teggy.

I am lucky to get 30 MPG average (city/hwy) with the B16 in my EGg Si. My old LS swap would get 34 MPG average and, on the highway, if I kept it no faster then 70mph.....I could get 37+ MPG

I usually get 25 a tank with normal city/highway use. Like I said, the 85mph was an all highway average for the first tank I used and I kind of did a pulse/glide thing but mostly I just set the cruise.

I am not one that really worries about how far i can go on a tank of gas but wouldn't setting the cruise control have something to do with how many miles to a tank of gas you got

depends on highway/town

it also depends on how much highway u take and how much stop and go u do i had a 1992 accord 5speed with 298k and i made it to tennessee on a full tank (467miles) but that was all highway and i only got roughly around 388 miles on a full tank

Before a trip fill the tank and reset the trip odometer. At any point after that, fill it back up. Write down the amount of gallons it takes. Take the mileage off the trip odometer and divide it by the gallons. Example- 10 gallons to fill the tank back up. 300 miles on the trip odometer. 300/10=30mpg. Easy.

Yea, thats what I said... Kinda... lol :p

'92 LX, 280k miles, I did 174mi using about 1/8th tank of gas(much better than my '90 LX with 170k miles). I'm averaging about 27-30mpg highway!

My Civic got about 57mpg highway but I haven't drove it since parking it for a rebuild. Short gearing kind of help since I couldn't really speed without making a lot of noise(4000rpm in 5th=~70-75mph) I have a D15Z1 though waiting for a new home(88-89 CRX HF) ;)

In my H22 swapped accord, I've averaged mid 29's over the last four tanks. I've been trying to get better mileage lately though; I normally average 25-26mpg, and if I run it hard, I get about 22mpg.

yeah, when i was 21 i didnt worry about gas mileage. my 82 mustang GT with a 200 shot of nitrous got crappy gas mileage when i was 21 LOL it hasnt improved much still LOL

yep thats what I usually get. 30mpg average. When i was running the b16 with a LS tranny I would get 36mpg.

Man I wonder what my new build will get. about 1.9L, mild cams, rc 310 injectors, and a B16 tranny. :(

I want the LS 5th in my B16 transmission. Its about $125 online. But I dont really wanna bust my transmission open lol. If I do...I am changing 2nd and 3rd gear syncros too

91 hatch with jdm d15b. The lowest average I've had is 41 mpg. Got 43 out of the last tank.... hopefully it will get better once it actually passes emissions
