Epic NASA failure

Where do you want me to start? NASA is responsible for more daily items and technologies than you are probably aware of. While I agree that in its current state it is somewhat a waste of money - it is still valuable to us as a nation and as a world. The NASA we have today is product of government red tape and an unclear vision because each administration changes its mission.

This is probably some cover story.

Is nasa really this incompetent . . . REALLY???

I mean 50 years ago, before personal computers, we put people on the moon and now we are somehow less competent?

I bet whatever they launched up there is autonomously roving the electro sphere looking for things to vaporize.

Great link, and most of our current technology was discovered or invented during either war or the space race. I think setting a goal of manned space flight to Mars would spark technical innovations that will benefit mankind for hundreds of years.

Instead of cash for clunkers, corporate bailouts, and welfare, we could be using that money for contracts that develop our technology and benefit us as a nation.

Never get rid of your innovation / research / technology development / blahdeblah. Never. That's what keeps the US ahead- it's one of the things that keeps humanity pushing forward.

NASA does way more than you know. some stuff is in the background but used by nearly everyone everyday. either in developed technologies or services.

hell, if i didnt maintain my satellites at work you wouldnt have google maps. most of the low res pics come from my satellite, and the high res pics come from Landsat across the hall. plus the other missions in my building (along with another satellite i operate) which measures critical weather and atmospheric conditions. as well as satellite surveillance. hubble operates out of a separate building, however their backup center is in my building.

so yes we need NASA. not only for its continuing support and development of technologies, but space exploration i think is very important to our ongoing survival in the far far far future.

If you break it down NASA will try and develop a service, product or material to suit their needs. Well the "failures" that they encounter generally trickle out into the commercial realm. The standards that NASA needs products and such to meet are so far beyond what we need that their failures are more than good enough for day to day use.

And for that matter, who the hell does not love Tang?

he's real, he just became inefficient when Africa and East Asia started to believe in him...so he retired, and went into corporate at Halmark.
