well the old laptop finally took a dump and needs a reformat. my parents are going to take it and put windows 7 on it and go from there.

anyway, got the Asus G73.
Specs:
Intel Core i7 (1.60ghz)
500gb HDD
6gb RAM
ATI Radeon 5870 1gb
17.3" screen

loving the aesthetics of this thing so far. it looks awesome and performs excellently. very happy with my purchase.

installing Crysis right now :) never played the game so i thought i would give it a try now that i have a computer that will play it well

decided on a laptop because im going to need it this coming fall.

yea im loving it so far. wayy faster than what im used to. just trying to get some games on here now :)

wanting to play just cause 2.. played it on 360 and it was pretty fun

Sweet! Let us know what kind of frame rate you are getting.

asus laptops are top notch for gaming laptops. i have a G60 and i love it. the only thing that suxks is that they are HUUUGE for the screen size. my 16" laptop is the size of most 17". and the 17" ones are absolutely humongous.

i wish i had better than 1366x768 res too :( i may upgrade the screen in the future, along with the processor

i play COD, Crysis, L4D, L4D2, other steam games, bioshock, all fine on my G60. the GTX260m card in it is nice. i used to have the G50VT-X5 but traded it up for the G60 when win7 started coming standard.

yeah im loving it so far. i dont see me upgrading this thing for quite some time lol

but yes you are correct, this thing is huge. im just gonna get a bag for it instead of putting it in my bag with all my other crap.'

the only other thing im going to complain about is battery life on this particular model. it has a lot of power-sucking components and the battery itself actually isnt very big. i get about an hour and a half of battery life browsing/downloading stuff.

here's a pic of it, so everyone gets the idea. has a 17.3" widescreen.

i love the fact that it actually has the ports for the fan on the back of the laptop, my last one had them on the bottom... so if you actually had the laptop in your... lap.. well it would get really hot and basically suffocate.

any game + touchpad = lose. i use the touchpad for everyday stuff, but a mouse is a must for gaming

I don't blame you, I have never owned a "gaming" keyboard or mouse.

yeah, i just couldnt justify spending 50+ on a mouse lol. a simple corded one works just fine for me :)

yeah i figured that out in a heartbeat.

crysis is badass. cant stop playing it. i want to try far cry now.. anyone played it?

heh, i bought a cheap logitech from office depot. the place is like 10 seconds away from my house and i just couldnt wait.

Yeah mouse is the way to go for gaming. If you're talking about Far Cry 2 I'd probably just skip it, it's an alright game but it gets very repetitive and it doesn't really offer anything that you can't get playing some other FPS. The open environment is nice but nowhere near as good as Crysis.

If you want a good mouse for gaming go with anything Logitech's gaming offerings, G5 = win. Razer also makes good mice.
