oil leak.

Well I recently replaced the motor in my 93 Integra with a stock replacement (b18a1), and i have a pretty serious oil leak problem.the motor runs fine, and i dont think there is any problem with in the motor because no smoke comes out of my exhaust. its just there is alot of oil out side of the motor leaking out and dripping onto my exhaust.

where should I start with diagnosing the source? the top half of my engine bay is fine but when i get under the car oil is EVERYWHERE!

I can get picture once my car cools down (hot oil was leaking onto me ...) if that will help.

The oil pressure sending unit often leaks, replace it forst since it's easier than any of the oil seals. After that, it's most likely your oil pan gasket. They're a pain in the ass to do but if you do it right it won't be terrible. Here are all the seals on your engine, period:

Behind timing:

Crakshaft Seal
Camshaft Seals

Between engine and transmission:

Rear Main

Outside of engine (more accessible):
Oil Pan Gasket
Valve Cover Gasket set
Distributor O-ring

Then of couse a head gasket can leak, hopefully that's not your problem, it's rare that they leak to the outside on the volume you are saying. Anyway try that oil pressure sending unit first, they leak between the plastic and the metal crimping around the plastic. It's like a $10 sensor at a parts store.

thanks for all the info! I was looking further into it earlier and the worst of the leaking seems to be coming from the side where all the pulleys are so im gonna have to pull the cover off and check it out.

could leak from the front main seal(inside the oil pump).

cam seal could have walked out, ive had it happen twice before.

most common oil leaks on b series seems to be cam cap seals, distributor o ring seal, valve cover gasket, and the oil pan gasket.

in my experience many, if not the majority of b series engines are going to have at least one of these areas leaking a little. of course they can be easily fixed though.

yeah i have a b18a1 if my ef hatch, and the person who owned it didn't take very good care of the leaks as for its EVERYWHERE!. id try to either scrap or clean off some of the oil so you can see some fresh stuff to try and better determine where its coming from (kicks my self for not cleaning my motor before installing)

Sounds like it is the timing end of the engine then, so as some have said that's a front crank seal or a cam seal. Here is my advice, speaking from experience (aka, don't learn the hard way like me). 1) Loosen the two bolts on the cam gears BEFORE you remove the timing belt. 2) Line up all the timing marks before you take the belt off. 3) In case you haven't heard it before, replace the water pump while you're in there. 4) Use HondaBond on the valve cover gasket when you reassemble it. 5) Look up how to do oil seals before you attempt it. A small flat blade screwdriver is the best tool I have found for prying out the old seal. 6) Grease up new seals before installing them 7) Use the old seal and a small hammer/rubber mallet to drive the new seal in with.
